Simple poll. I don't believe someone can go from ZERO involvement in boxing up to age 23 and suddenly become a "world class" trainer in a few years. To me he is a complete and utter fraud for the level he is at. Where did he obtain his boxing knowledge? What do you think, ESB?
Not sure he's getting the best out of Taylor, that's for sure. He's young though, room for improvement I suppose. I voted for time will tell.
So Taylor had one bad fight (due to a rough camp and weight cut) under Davispn after performing very well twice under him as well and now you guys blame Davison? Mhhh. Interesting. I don't think Davison is a good coach for a young and upcoming boxer. He clearly lacks the boxing skills and experience but i think he's a good coach for a finished product (skill-wise) like Fury, Taylor or even Wood. Those guys already have a developed skillset and there are other things to fix. I like the way he brought Fury back, he also improved Wood in a crazy way and finally Taylor had probably his career best performance under Davison against a world class Ramirez. Is he the best coach in the world? Obviously not. Is he a fraud? No, he isn't. But he's picking his fighters carefully and rightfully so. I wouldn't like to see a great amateur who is turning pro going to Davison.
Tbf a good trainer does work hard. He might have a few pros in the gym that's some serious commitment.
I think there's a specific situation in which he's a decent trainer. He seems to have a great relationship with his boxers, so I wouldn't say he's a fraud, they would sniff him out if he was. What I would say is that he is definitely not a good at coaching his fighters to fight on the front foot.
I love that the choices are either time will tell or great trainer. Like there's no absolute world in between those two options.
Ben once completed a half marathon which is where he learned how to keep the mind afloat in even the deepest of water.
He is not a total fraud but he is a bit deluded and thinks he knows more than he really does. He brings a lot of the stick he gets on himself.
