Berto needs an equal mopponent and lets see what happend, I beleive Collazo will box his pants out and exposed Berto....let see him against Gomez for example....

That's a fight that I would like to see. Some want to see him fight Mosley, which would be another good fighter to step up in competition with. I don't think he should rush it too much though, he's still a bit young. Berto is a good fighter though, very fast hands and he has power - with the ability to land. With media attention comes the idea of him rising to the top, but I don't think his camp is ready to send him up there just yet.

Cotto was already thrown to the lions by the time he had the number fo fights that Berto has...I don;t buy it....they are being way to careful with Berto...if you don;lt throw a boxer into deep waters and see what he is made off you will never know what will happend when down the line, and in a title fight it is not the time top see if he can swim in deep waters or not....

Too soon to call Berto a hype job. He might become one or he might not, but he isn't one as we speak.

So far he has passed every test, and outside of a rocky performance against Rivera he has looked good most of the time.

It is time for him to take a step up though.

Looking good against competition you are superior to is one thing, but looking good against comprable comp is something entirely different.

I'd love to see him in with Guiterrez, Gomez,Torres, or hell why not Feliciano.

He's not ready for Quintana or even Collazo or Clottey. Forget about the elite for now.

I think he'll become a player at welterweight, never a great fighter but good. He's exciting as well so I'm pulling for him.

Berto is Mayweatheresque in terms of physical talent. He's got it all. Williams was the guy that was exposed yesterday.

I would not call test...the calyber of his opponents has been mediocre at best...it is hard to test someone if you keep feeding them mediocre talent to hype his confidence...

I do agree that Feliciano v Berto would be a good litnus test for Berto, Feliciano is tough, gret inside fighter and definitevely can take a punch, he could take Berto to the brink.....I like to see him against Gomez also, a talented opponent that is smart andunderstand the science....
I am not sold on Berto

Berto is a good prospect still green and learning but you can see the talent is there.
i hope they bring him along slowly like they did with Cotto.
I would hate to see him thrown to the lions of the division before he is ready.

While I called Williams to be a top fighter, it appears of now I was wrong, but I have been calling Berto to fail for a while now. As soon as he steps it up(Quintana is actually a name I've been mentioning for him) I believe he will be exposed.

What weaknesses do you see in his game that makes you think he will be exposed?

Lack of movement and defense, and mediocre chin, thic coming from word of his progress in sparring and from being dropped by a simple left hook from Rivera.

His lack of both movement and defense are two things I believe will lead to him being exposed by an accurate out boxer. He usually relies on his physical attributes to beat C level opposition.
