If you look at the ranking,. you will see that the top four are belt holders what belt MArgo holds? none
i dont see how any boxing fan can call berto boring. he's not on floyds or mayweather level. but def someone to watch out for, wouldn't be surprized if he gets a chance with quintana.
Cintron doesn't belong in the top 5. Shane is the obvious #3. He has a clear win over your #8, a hard fought loss to your #2, has the pedigree of being a one-time P4P player, and used to be the undisputed best welterweight in the world. Quintana was absolutely brutalized by your #2. Cintron has top 5 potential, but got kayoed by your #7, and just went life and death with a journeyman who doesn't crack the top 15, maybe even 20, in the division. 6-10 I think ten different people would rate ten different ways. Judah will have top 10 talent until the day he hangs them up, but what has he done for us lately? I don't know if he could keep his head on straight for the 36 minutes required for him to beat Margo. Therefore I can't rate him above Williams.
The point is this: PBF Cotto Cintron and Quintana hold 4 belts in the divison..Margo lost to Williams, on his last fight, so he is coming from a lost..SSM lost his last fight also, a tight fight but a lose....Collazo has a win ofter his lost to SSM, Judah has two come back win after his last lost..so he is on the winning column..sorry I dont buy your argument
Well if not being as good as Mayweather is bad, then I want to be bad. Floyd is a freak of nature. I remember watching him in the 93' and 95' Golden Gloves and you just KNEW he was gonna be a monster. Which is why he won a world title with only 17 pro bouts. You don't see that often and you won't see it in Berto's case. But win or lose, I think Berto has a great chance to do decent things in the sport. Of course as soon as he loses threads will cry out with "TOLD YOU BERTO SUCKED" ESB, guys amaze me here. :fire
I am not saying he suck...but that he is overated...his opponetn have been hand pick ...up to know....
Well, really man, who isn't overrated? What makes Cotto so good - because he beat an old Mosely and a very vulnerable headcase in Judah? What makes PBF so good -- because he beat an old Chicanito', a "weight drained" Corrales, an "aged" DLH, and a "smaller" Ricky Hatton? What made JCC so good -- because he beat cab drivers? You see what I mean? There's too much emphasis on "rated vs overated." The bottom line is that Berto is a good fighter and we'll find out how good he is when his career is all said and done.
Because if you EVER lose, you were overrated all along. :-( But it's just the nature of boxing these days. When a busy year is three fights, and a long career is forty, there's just no room for error. Fans react accordingly.
..agreed...but longetivity and consistency are the key and PBF and Cotto has shown that they are the most consistent and wioth the most longivity so far staying undefeated against the best competition in the division, Berto on the other hand has fought chumps....to many for that matter
Berto's only 24. There's no reason to rush him along unnecessarily. Besides being consistent and highly talented, Floyd and PBF were wise beyond their boxing years. I didn't get to see Berto last night, but I remember Cotto being much more fundamentally sound in 2004-2005 than Berto was in 2007. His footwork, balance, and body punching were light-years ahead of where Berto is/ was. The only questions were if his chin would hold up, and if he was too methodical for his own good. Those questions have pretty much been answered.
Both PBF and Cotto faced stiffer opposition far sonner than Berto has....hell Cotto is only 3 years older than Berto, 3.....
PBF and to a lesser degree Cotto were extreme boxing talents. I think Berto is a supreme athlete who needs more seasoning before he fights the welterweight elite. I'd say Cotto has improved in the last three years. You can say he improved by fighting great competition. I'd say he improved by consistently fighting opponents he was ready for. Berto is also coming of age in a division that is MUCH deeper than 140 was three years ago.
