we will find out when he fights a live body. the guy has power, but frankly can be hit easily, and would love to see him hit by someone who can punch. this can trabant was a step back. what a joke. berto looks like a reptile. clown gets schooled by any top ten ww, period.

 

I don't think he ever becomes a champion of any significance. I believe he'll be a contender at best.

He has good speed, fast hands, and good power, but lacks upper body movement, a good defense, and doesn't have the best chin. He looks like he can be outboxed and I would expect somebody like Quintana to do it.

 

I want to see Andre get a fight with Zab Judah.

completely agree. I have been saying for a long while now now anyone with good boxing skills can beat him. Trabant was a complete joke, anyone with a decent set of eyes could have seen that and he would have made anyone look good. Berto is exciting to watch, much like Katsidis, but can and will be outboxed by B+ or higher level fighters

 

I definitely agree about Katsidis too - I'm looking forward to seeing how he does against a well-past-it Casamayor.

Me too. Casa looked pretty bad his last time and usually I go with the "if they look shot, then they are" mentality. Maybe he proves me wrong, but im going with the young and hungry Katsidis in this one. Besides, we want him to win so that it sets up Diaz/Katsidis for unification foty (assuming Diaz beats Campbell of course), right?

 

:good I'm picking Katsidis over Casamayor. Diaz/Katsidis would be a war as neither take a backwards step. Guaranteed action!

 

Yeh that would be an amazing fight. Bloody war where I think Diaz comes out on top and it shoots him into superstar status :good

 

He has proven he can beat those opponents that are carefully picked for him.
Opponents with little power who are hopefully agressive so he can look spectacular on HBO. This is done to create a fan base and hype the fighter.

However,lets see him step up the class. At this moment its tough to decide if he is for real, as he is fighting guys who have no chance of winning or making him look bad.

There is no proper way to project how this guys would do against a Quintana or Clottey or Collazo and since the ratings are a farce. the Jury is still out on Berto.

 

Even though he has faced limited opposition, Berto has that rare combination of handspeed and power. When he punches, it sounds much like the way when Floyd or RJ throws - a swish type sound. That is only accomplished by having tremendous handspeed. Unlike RJ and Floyd, he seems to possess more raw power. I love the way he digs that hook to the body and them immediately comes back up top with the hook and right hand. It is early, but he looks like a combination of Floyd and Tito Trinidad, almost.
Again, I know it is early but we can't disregard this sort of twenty year olds.
