I see, therefore Berto was able to remain fresh for the entire fight.

Would a stronger fighter be able to wear him out? David Estrada could not and he is big, strong and agressive.

Maybe not wear him out, but a fighter like Margo who sets his own pace would be a much harder test for Berto's durability. Forbes is a defensive slick boxer, doesn't press. Berto was going at his own pace in that fight. Don't get me wrong, still VERY impressive but a fight with margo or Cotto or Williams is a different story maybe.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this. I don't think anybody at 147 would look good against Forbes, and Forbes chin is unbelieveable. I'm not a Berto nuthugger, but I think he has a good chance of beating Cotto....and lets face it, we don't know how the serverity of the beating he took from AM is gonna affect Cotto's confidence and ability to take a punch. I'm not saying definitively that Berto would beat Cotto, but I give him a much better chance than most. ;)

I think that fight is a toss up. Cotto gets caught by a huge punch or punches eveytime he fights. when Berto catches him he's going down in a ball of flames, and Berto gets caught he's going down too. really its a toss up, nobody cant serioulsy think Cotto would kill him because Cotto just came of a KO lost, he would relax some in the first couple of rounds, not to mention Berto is 3 times faster than him. the only ppl that think C|otto would kill Berto are the ones that thought he would kill Margarito!!! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!

Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Williams all KO Berto.

Clottey, Judah, Quintana and Collazo are pretty much 50/50 or slightly in favor of Berto.

I'm with ya' right up til' Judah. Assuming Berto gets pasts Collazo (which seems pretty likely), Judah would be a nice step up in terms of name fighters and is yet sufficiently energetic and dangerous to make it entertaining.

Unless MC was reduced to 50% or less of his confidence and abilities by Margarito (which seems

unlikely. to me at least...), he beats Berto by wide UD or TKO.

David Estrada is featherfisted despite being aggressive and not terribly big for a Welterweight. Berto has been fighting soft touches for his whole career and had a scare against Cosme Rivera which he managed to survive because it happened at the end of the round. He just fought another small fighter with no pop in Forbes but his next fight is at least against a natural welter in Collazo who happens to still be in his prime. Luis is also featherfisted but at least he is a real welterweight that can box well and is a southpaw.

Berto's competition is improving slowly but Cotto would be a bridge too far. However, he is coming off a bad loss so that may equal things out if they decide to do it early next year.

He is more than ready for Cotto. I believe he can stop Cotto or totally outclass him. Cotto just doesn't have the right hand that you need to beat either slick boxers or fighters who are stronger than him...

Berto needs to be properly groomed before he fights the elite. I think he should do a stay busy fight, then fight a collazo or a judah and then a cintron or a quintana....Then an elite fighter.

Cotto is not that good, he barely beat a 36 yr old shopworn SSM, Berto is a very big WW depite his short stature, who has very fast and is very explosive. He would have a chance against anyone, not saying he would win but he definetly can't be discounted.
