There has to be tons of cases of more weight being put on than that. Tons... Victor Ortiz weighed in at 164 for a WW fight. That's 17 pounds above the WW limit. Your example of Dawson is only 16 pounds above the LHW limit.
Guys... 35 year old Erik Morales didn't look like he was on PED's either. But he was. Physical appearance should mean little when it comes to suspecting PED users. The stuff I read on here is baffling. While I think that all but a few world class athletes are on PED's of some kind, I also don't make suspicions or accusations based on physical appearance. Otherwise almost every fighter among the 20 or so best in the sport right now are clearly juicing to the guys who do think like that.
So it's unacceptable to make baseless accusations against Beterbiev but it's cool for you to make baseless accusations against all "top urican fighter"s...?!? I hope you understand how your opinion is immediately disregarded by everyone on this subject.
Yes, there is tons of cases of fighters coming in heavier than that but I've never seen a higher recorded fight night weight for a LHW than that one, which is kind of odd. Plenty of fighters have recorded fight night weights of 20lb or so heavier than what they weighed on the scales. A 20lb gain is commonplace for MMA fighters. I've heard some even come in 30lbs heavier but I don't know if that's true or not or even physically possible.
The 'uricans do cheat like fcuk though, not exactly baseless. Mosley, Toney, Holyfield, Jones, Tarver, Tyson, Rios, Bey, Berto, Briggs, Peterson, Love, Vargas...the list goes on.
I do agree that a good bit of them get caught for PED's. But to cite a specific person who has never tested positive, whether it's an American or it's Beterbiev, is doing the exact same thing... making baseless assumptions. I don't care what the reasoning behind the assumption is, it's still the same. Now I don't get all offended by discussing the possibility of fighters being on PED's so I'm not saying that as my opinion, just pointing out an inconsistency. I was simply saying that lots of people here are getting very defensive of this thread yet they are immediately turning around and throwing away their credibility by doing the exact same thing to different fighters. The classic example is Pacquiao fans who for years got all defensive and repeated "you should be sued for implying that without evidence! Innocent until proven guilty! Do you have proof?" and then the moment their guy loses a fight, they turn around and repeatedly, still to this day even, accuse the fighter they don't like of being on steroids without evidence. It's a classic case of: -load gun -aim gun at own foot -pull trigger
