Ive heard that Archie Moore was possibly younger than his listed age. There was speculation that he lied about his age at the start of his pro career so that he could fight as a pro sooner while still a teenager.

If thats true, then Hops is definately the top old man with George close behind. Holyfield is much farther along as he didnt do as well as they did in old age.

Ray Robinson had a pretty long shelf life himself

By a lucky punch though. Look at his other fights at that age, Morrison beat him up, and Stewart made his face look like hamburger. Foreman wasnt a dangerous top p4p boxer at that age, while Hopkins is.

i dont agree with the bit about hte lucky punch

but moorer wasnt the greatest hw ever, and formean did get beaten up in some of this other fights in his comeback.

hopkins has been owning elite fighters at 40+ years old.

I put Hopkins at number 2.

Archie moore is the number 1 unless Bernard can beat Winky,Calzaghe and a heavyweight titlist. Then I will make him number 1 and an all time top 10 .

Archie Moore, imo is the only older fighter who CLEARLY exceeds him.

I think saying Moore clearly exceeding him is a very far fetched stretch ... he might be a little bit ahead but Hopkins is hot on his tail right now.
George definately did not have the same dedication or disciplin that either Archie or Bernard have.

Right now, it is Moore fairly easily, imo, but time will tell. B-Hop could definitely catch up.

Like most here, I had Archie Moore in my head. I see B-Hop as being similar in his ability to stay in excellent condition and adapt his style to the effects of aging.
