no i still dont rate him much of a chance. fedor just fought him wrong and would win a rematch IMO.

 

With Fedor out of the tournament, anything is possible. I think the winner of the Werdum/Overeem match wins the whole thing.

:thumbsup This is what seems likely. Although Silva in my opinion has a great shout to win it all. Stylistically he represents a big challenge for anyone in the GP.
This is what's so great about the GP. Plenty of genuine 50/50 matches.

No he wont. Silva is a serious threat on the ground. As long as Overeem can keep this bout standing he has a good chance to possibly KO Silva. That said Silva is no slouch on his feet and is very heavy handed. Plus his chin is better than Overeem's.

He always was a legit contender. Just look at his record. However, I'm very suprised that he could live with Fedor. I think he may have also gone into round 3 exhausted but who knows.

He was and is legit. Obviously this win makes him a legit top 10 fighter.

This tournament is the majority of the top 10s in the world probably.

 

Silva was already ranked in the top 10. Anyone that had him outside of it clearly doesn't know much about this sport.

 

I think he was a top 10 fighter but now it is more legit. People aren't going to argue some of the UFC fighters as top 10.

 

I was also surprised he had such a good second round against Fedor. He seemed solid beforehand, but Kyle and Arlovski were not great performances (some give him the Werdum decision)

But he put it all together last night. He looked ****ed at the end, but could Fedor, even with his ability to pull something out of his ass, capitalised on thatwith one eye and having been worn out himself?

Good win for Big Foot Silva. He Vs Werdum-Overeem winner (Reem hopefully) is intriguing stuff. The winner of that Vs the winner of the other side of the bracket is also very intriguing. If Rogers pulls a big shot out against Barnett (not likely IMO, the Fedor fight broke Rogers IMO) then we get to see a shoot out between a former amateur boxer and sambo practitioner and a big lump who hits hard.

If not, we see a big, multi-skilled guy like Barnett take on the pretty rounded (and dangerous Sergei) I mean, if this GP goes to plan (and it hasn't for SF but it has legitimised Big Foot) we are going to be treated to some very intriguing matchups.

To be honest i dont care much for any of the UFC heavys. Apart from JDS Cain and possibly Carwin the rest are irrelevant and that includes Lesnar and Mir.
The best heavys in the world right now are all in the SF tourney. Seriously how would Cain fair vs veterans like Overeem Sergei Silva Werdum Fedor etc? The same goes for JDS.

 

i think sergei has to be the darkhorse to be honest. He was ****ing clinical!!
i know its only against arlovski but he performed like one ruthless mother****er..
