The commentary seemed to be raving about Bivol's beautiful combinations anytime he threw any more than one punch. And yes, Bivol's combinations do look pretty, Bivol has fast hands, good snappy punch technique, and doesn't load up on punches, all of which which makes it pretty satisfying to see him let his hands go. But I don't think he's a good combination puncher. He doesn't have much variety to his combos, he rarely doubles or triples up on the same hand, doesn't change the rhythm of his combinations, and he only really throws straight punches. His punch selection is very good at range, but his punch selection at midrange and when throwing combinations can be a bit lacking. I just think it's a bit odd that someone who doesn't really throw great combinations gets labelled as a good combination puncher.

He has fantastic combinations if you like speed, fluidity, accuracy and timing. His variety is a bit lacking, but that's the case with most of his game. But he doesn't need to be more versatile when the meat and potatoes stuff is so flawless.

To me, those are more like flurries than combinations - so I agree with You, but He's very effective at what He does and I never saw him have any trouble getting his punches through whenever He wants, basically.

Bivol is the best fundamental boxer we’ve seen since GGG. He doesn’t do anything fancy but his fundamentals are absolutely perfect

He is such a good basic fighter in a way, does the basics and fundamentals exceptionally well even if it lacks that little extra unpredictability.

He doesn’t throw much other than the jab and straight but it’s quick and efficient.

Bivol added a nice selection of body shots to his arsenal against Beterbeiv last night. He doesn't use the uppercut that much, but he doesn't really need to.

He has a great understanding of when to use combinations but mechanically I don’t find them particularly incredible

Bivol's not a whirlwind but he certainly punches well in combination.

I also liked that he managed to slip some looping shots around Beterbiev's high guard.
