Its seems like pacquiao himself has nothing to say nor does anyone of his team, maybe roach a little?
This is ridiculous, fighters should choose who they want to fight with their trainer then the promoter makes the fight happen.

When you reach the level that he has reached, it often becomes the highest possible pay day, taking into account the lowest risk if possible. The Pacquiao team just like the Mayweather team follow that principle.

It's the modern day boxers' trend and it's possible cause fight fans are dumb enough to buy their fights no matter what...

HBO are now trying to correct things a little but they still have a long way to go.

It annoys the hell out of me do, I get it take the low risk high reward fights, but 1/3 fights should be meaningfull when you are at that level. Manny's last meaningfull opponent was cotto. After that clottey, ok could live with that thought of it as a stay busy fight, then margarito that already was some ****ed up **** ebcause he never deserved a titleshot or a big money fight, and now old man mosley in the summer, if that happens it will be almost 2 years withouta meaningfull opponent, that is to much.

THIS HAS BEEN THE TREND FOR ALL big time fighters since the beginning they fight their way to the top and coast from that point on because their fans are happy just to see them fight it doesnt matter who they fight if you watch larry merchant comments at the start of the gatti v pbf fight he speaks to just that gatti could sell AC getting 2 mil a fight to fight guys with no chance it was gatti who wanted to see how good he really was. but most will just ride the gravy train to the station as long as there fans are happy with it. its like a movie as long as they get some action and there guy wins the fan are happy its to the point that as much as people want to believe that these fights that pac have been in will be competive but people that make money on them know the truth

Its pathetic just how big a role promoters play these days (well, for a long time I suppose) in a fighters career.

They are there to promote, period. The fighter, his team, and his manager (all who work for HIM, not the other way around) should be the ones that make the decisions.

At the end of the day, its the fighters own fault. Pac could easily do what Mayweather did and break away from Arum, hes a big enough star to do so.

Pac's contract with Top Rank expires on 2011 if I remember correctly. I could be wrong.

No, they all vote, with Roach's vote equivalent to 10 points, Ariza's around 10 points, Koncz maybe another 10 points, Manny 15 points and Arum 55 points. Then they tally the most points and the majority wins.

Just from listening to Roach i had presumed he had most input, he knows who Manny can beat easily and who he would struggle against

He did sign with Golden Boy.

I guess Arum's hand wasn't quite far enough up Manny's ass at that point.

Golden Boy, so goes the story, met the Filipino idol at LAX with a suitcase stuffed with $250,000 in $20 bills. After that, Pacquiao signed a multi-fight contract at a Beverly Hills steakhouse. Another $250,000 was to come by bank transfer or check. He then renounced the deal when Bob Arum offered $500,000 by check, and another $500,000 to reimburse Golden Boy.

Pac's in a fukked up position....if he were smart he'd cut ties with bobby like Oscar who by the way went on to bigger better things and Floyd who also went on to bigger better things.

Dont get me wrong i think Arum for up and comming fighters needing a name is great but i also think once he gets them their he sucks them dry...i think Pac is at the point where is name alone does alot of the work for him he does not need Arum taking these huge lumps of his hard earned money!

    Case and Point Cotto

Cotto at one time and maybe still now was one of the best draws you could get outside of Oscar and Floyd........how is it Arum can avidly throw Margo at Floyd and been on record with a deal for Floyd/Margo...but had no sort of deal to propose to Floyd for Cotto but yet Arum just boasted and bragged about Cotto. IM certain Cotto and Floyd would have mixed it up if it were just Cotto but i think Arum had a lot to do with that fight not happening....not Floyd or Cotto.
