That's true, but perhaps Manny is showing his appreciation for Arum getting him to where he is.

I hope you guys understand you are just ASSUMING Pac or Roach have no say in opponents. To think they just fight whomever Arum puts in front with no say at all is pretty ridiculous actually.

Arum can throw names around all he wants, but that's him doing his job. Doesn't mean they are done deals...

Cotto was "meaningful" I guess you didn't see the Cotto/Margarito fight?

Pac's last meaningful fight was JMM. Since then he has stuck to the formula, brawlers and burn outs. :deal

It is the same subject. Arum is feeding Pac shells of great fighters. All of these guys were on a high level at one time, but all of them have been exposed. Usually brutally. Arum avoids guys who haven't exposed themselves.

You are right. I don't want to make it a flame war.

it was an article on ESB somewhere once upon a time but it stated Pac pays out an awful lot to Arum plus i think he owes some to Golden Boy too.

Anyways my thing is he should be getting a whole lot more a percentage when he fights

It's not like Arum has picked terrible opponents for him, all opponents have been good enough to make him the greatest of this generation.

is there anyone else under Arum's fighters that could be an opponent, obviously Mosely stepping away from GBP makes him easier for Bob. Cotto, please no and I expect Cotto-Margarito. Gomez-Chavez is already on (which i actually like as a matchup), Foreman ain't gonna happen. Mike Jones was too unimpressive on the undercard.

As long as you look at the names and not at where their careers where. :conf

Well, what percentage does Pac or Arum get from the total purse? If you are going to claim these things, fill us in on what they get. Curious to know myself.

Their careers were good. DLH was a huge favorite going in that fight, Cotto was coming off a win against the top welterweight(as rated back then) Clottey in a 50/50 fight. People said that Pac should have fought who they believed beat Cotto and he did after his fight which is the reason why Clottey is looked as a joke when boxing is discussing and he's mentioned. Margarito was another weight for another title and a lot of people still considered it to be a tough fight.

Like him or not, his list opponents were hardly cheap, those were the best available, if you know better please mention it and I would love to discuss. The only cheap opponent was Margarito in that list and still he had a huge size advantage.

A agree with you about ODLH but when people saw him? That went out of the wind. Cotto was destroyed by Margo and gifted a decision over Clottey. Pac should have fought Mosley then. Pac fought Clottey due to the Mayweather debacle not because anyone one was asking for it. The numbers reflected that. Not sure where the "Clottey is a joke" fits in. Margarito again, was smashed by Mosley, busted cheating, and not ranked at the weight. Sure, Margo's style makes for a fan friendly fight, but skill wise?

I never said they were cheap. I agreed that they were great names. Just at the time he fought them they had ALL been exposed and most brutally. They were good names. They were not "the best available".
