Is amateur boxing really dangerous in the long run or is it like comparing a safari and a zoo?

Ive always loved boxing and have a great intrest in it. But whats keeping me from starting is that I have floaters and Im afraid they will increase and if it's dangerous to the brain.

But if you look at it logically all the boxers should be blind if it's so dangerous for your eyes due to all the sparring they have done in their life.

    I'm 20 now.

Well...there are safest things in life than boxing in life. I've seen a guy thay couldn't work anymore since he suffered broken ribs during a sparring. It's part of the game and you should accept it before doing it. If you're not ready to suffer, maybe you should continue to listen boxing from your couch:)

Boxing is indeed dangerous to the fact that the p4p #1 boxer doesnt even want to fight the #2 p4p fighter coz he fears for his health. what a shame.

I am no expert, but my experience from full contact martial arts (I've done a little boxing) is that injuries is a part of the game. Boxing is probably one of the more safe sports, because you dont risk to **** up your knees. If you have any medical problems already in advance it could be a good idea to look for something else.

the best advice i can give you is that people are put on this earth to grow and create and learn.

if you want to shine brighter than other people - whether you're good at fighting or not - then you HAVE to test yourself.

you only get one life, my friend.

i would tell you to seize the moment, overcome your fears, and live life

True that. Not that kind of a couch potatoe. I been active with all kinds of sports my entire life ;)
I think im going to try it out to be honest. The level im going to compete at are far from dangerous.

I don't really think its about that. Floyd just have an ego out of this world and tbh I think he hates arum. Hopefully they will get it on later this year.

Not dangerous at all. Getting hit in the brain repeatedly is perfectly safe. No ill effects.

    Well...go on in the case:)
I had to try it to and after that I've gained a LOT of respect for a guy that fight to 10 or 12 rounds. Even the worst one!

It's like you said there is no harm in testing stuff out :) If I don't test it, it will probably bother me the rest of my life.

Yea, very dangerous. Just look at Ali, Taylor, Benitez, McClellan.

I'm not sure whether Amateur boxing is THAT dangerous though, cause you see guys having hundreads of am fights and they seem to be fine most of the time, so I'm not really that sure. I certainly wouldn't go pro though if health is your concern.

Id rather be hit flush by a right hook than to be ktfo from an axe kick.

it really will if it's playing on your mind now.

the old addage that there is nothing to fear but fear itself has never been more true than when you go the local gym for the first time.

it will only serve you well if you test yourself now - i promise you that 100%.

learning about life doesn't revolve around protecting yourself from challenges. the challenge is how bright do you want to shine, and how far do you want to push the envelope more than the next person.

anyone can sit in an office and call it 'living' for 40 years while they collect their pension, become 'set for life', and feel satisfied with what they've achieved.

but that is lemming status - no disrespect but it is
