As a Floyd fan, I came to realize that I wont miss him. It seems like there are great fights being made. Hopefully these fights can make money, plus not be critized by their legacy. Floyd's downfall was when he said he was better than SRR. But after I seen MTV the other day, they listed him in the wannabe section. So if most fans don't like him and Hollywood don't, he has problems

Stupid point mate. Why does weight class matter? Then it shouldnt be called pound-for-pound then, if weight matters. Would you rather have Wlad Klitschko or Sam Peter as P4P#1 then? Didn't think so.

Sorry, but I thought P4P ratings were about who was the best boxer, not who sold the most P4Ps or was younger or heavier. The no1 should be the no1 in the game, or we've sold the soul of the sport.

No, because outside of Pinoys, or if he is fighting a Mexican, then the Mexican fans.. Pac has ZERO cross-over appeal.

He won't make main-stream, he doesn't speak enough english, and he's still really just embraced by hardcore fans and Filipino's.

One man does not make boxing.

What boxing needs has been beaten to death. One champ at each weight, good matches, boxers fighting more then 1 or 2 times a year, etc.....

    Well thank you.

Because certain weight classes are more marketable to the general public.

A better REPRESENTATIVE? then yea i'll say Pac but it depends what you like and how the sport should be represented. If its exposure then i'll go with PBF. With PBF its not just the "p4p #1" status he had but the things he did outside the ring and the character he turned himself into.

I think alot of people who posted in this thread had thier own interpetation of what better for boxing is. Some where thinking representative and some thought it was about exposure.

I haven't been posting on esb that much because its getting pretty ridiculous on these boards.

No ... the lightweight division isn't all that great and the super lightweight division is worse.

There isn't too many mega fights that can be set up for Pac ... he will just dominate guys that aren't on his level physically or experience wise.

His stiffest comeptition to date would probably be JMM ... other than that there isn't much out there for him. They're (Team Pac) is choosing Hatton as a tough fight, but none the less a fight he should win.

I think that Mayweather although retired couldve easily made bigger fights with Cotto and Williams not to mention the guys who were on there way up.

I don't think that Pac thoughout his PPV career will ever manage to produce the same numbers as Mayweather and on top of that Mayweather is undefeated.

It came on the other day, Farnz Worth Bently was hosting it. They were talking about people doing it big and basically being role models Nas, Jay, Puff, and many it didn't matter if u were white or black. But at the end they had a wannabe group which was Floyd, Matha Stewart, and more. My man I'm a huge Floyd fan, but going on wrestling and not getting cheers or boos is not a good sign. Wrestling loves celbriteis like Snoop, dONALD, tRUMP, AND MORE. Thats not a good thing for Floyd. Even going on Dancing with the Stars, it's like to me he wants to be cool which is real lame to me

This thread would be meaningless if he was doing that. It wouldn't even be close.

Think about it like this ... w/ Mayweather retiring, he openend the door for many fighters to achieve something ... he held the sport hostage and in a good way. If he wouldve stayed he would've hurt alot of fighters from accomplishing anything.

He opened up the door for Berto, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao, Calzaghe, and JMM.

No way those guys stood a chance to over throw Mayweather from his p4p status if Money May was still active.

Pacquiao would still be p4p #2 ... Cotto would still be the #1 contender as a WW and top 5 p4p ...

Calzaghe wouldn't be considered for the #1 p4p spot ... Margarito v Cotto wouldn't be close to winning the ring magazine title ....

Pac can't do that ... there's already dispute about his ranking ... w/ people giving Calzaghe more clout ... and Cotto is not too far from both guys. Not to mention JMM who's still given controversay over his two fights w/ Pacquiao ...

If Pac were to retire right now ... it wouldn't open up the door for anyone.

    Berto wouldn't be a champion either ...

There's a way for Paul Williams to make a name for himself amoung the best WW's ... people are considering Pavlik for p4p consideration now ...

He has been the p4p#1 for a few weeks Fitz, you have to allow more time to see what happens.

Pac has been in the game too long and is at the end of his rope ... I don't see him staying that long in one particular division and now is just looking for big fights.

He's not too far away from retiring ... he's soon going to get beat and end his reign.

Don't confuse this as hating though because I think what Pac is doing something great right now ... he's 29 and been in the game for 13yrs ... and has been in many wars.
