Boxing is unique in sport. It is probably the most honest and the most corrupt of sports. It's business and entertainment as much as sport. It is both beautiful and barbaric. It's art as well as science. It's politics, racist, nationalistic, pride and predudise. Enslaving and liberating. Predetermined and unpredictable. It can represent the ultimate decider like no other sport. It represents the best and worst of humanity. In short it is life represents in one sport and like everything else it's future is uncertain. There is certainty in this life my young friend and they are death and taxes, for everything else don't worry and just enjoy it.

The problem is in the U.S.
    Its about money & Media.
When the sport becomes more international, i.e. Klitschkos, the media in the U.S. turns away fearing lower ratings. So they just give little coverage to it at best. U.S. Media is about drama, the K brothers are class acts w/o drama, eventhough they pummel and knock out 90% of boxers. Same thing w/ Lennox Lewis b/c he was British and spoke w/ some class in contrast to Tyson, who is totally overrated.

    Yes.

For all of those saying it isn't? OK. Boxing isn't what it used to be, but beyond that? It never had competition. Now it has, as the population becomes more aware, fewer participants. Those two factors can conspire to almost snuff the Sweet Science (in the US). Boxing better wake up because tons of kids are growing up not appreciating Boxing. That does not bode well for the future.

However the caveat is this, competition and serendipity (NFL lockout) have made Boxing better recently and the Sweet Science may actually be gaining serious ground with both fans and possible participants.

Time will tell, but Boxing needs to stay sharp. Join a Boxing club, buy fights/merchandise, and go to live shows fellas!

People have been saying boxing is in trouble as a sport since the 1920s yet it's still here.

It's not in trouble because everything moves in cycles and boxing rise and decline again.
