I say this because i read there are more boxers than mma fighters by sheer numbers. MMA is still young and developing. Also MMA fighters start later than boxers. And it seems boxer follow a stricter lifestyle in order to make weight, which on average they are lighter than mma fighters in order to have endurance and speed.
? If you have to make 147 or 155, regardless of what sport it is that you compete in, then you will have to be strict with your food intake. MMA'ers just by their work-load have stricter lifestyles than Boxers.
Boxing is more competitive. According to Boxrec there are over 19,725 active boxers. UFC has 543, which includes the women. The top 10 boxers in the ring magazine represent 7 countries: U.S.A, Ukraine, Philippines, Mexico, Cuba, U.K., and Nicaragua. The average record being 43 fights, 41 wins, 2 losses. The top 10 MMA fighters represent the U.S. and Brazil, only 2 coming from Brazil. The average record being 20 fights, 18 victories, 2 losses. If you become a UFC champion you automatically make the top 10 P4P. The UFC's international competition has a breakdown of 47% from the U.S., 18% Brazil, 5% Canada, 4% Great Britain, 3% Japan, and less and less, etc. U.S. wrestling is more competitive than both. There are 265,000 boys and girls wrestle in high school. Only 1 in 44 make it into college wrestling. Approximately 8,400 wrestlers compete in some form of college wrestling.
