Hey folks, Do you think that Boxing Politics has been in decline? The reason why I say that is everyone knows that the folks who control the Heavyweight Championship controls the fight game... but since we had two Heavyweigh Champions in the Klit's the fight politics seems to have diminished and in some instances disapeared. Remember the old days of the over the hill guy getting a #1 contendership and championship fight? Remember the days of paying fighters not to fight- this may not be that far back. What do you think? Do you think the fight game has come a long way since that ol'e bull****? Your thoughts! :deal
Well if the wba can stick with one champ per division, the wbc stops favouring mexicans, they all stop stripping fighters of their belts for bull****, less robberies like lara vs williams then it would be ideal. I can deal with that situation as long if there is fairness in it. Sadly its probably still on the same level.
The politics aren't as bad as the old days (especially the 1950s with Jim Norris and the IBC), but they are still very much in existence. Seriously, WTF is the "WBC absolute title"?
... sounds sort of like the WBA "Super Champion" status. Never quite understood why that is or holds. As for the WBC, it favours Latin American fighters because of it's Puerto Rican roots. Not fair but it is what it is... I wil always regard the WBA belt more than the other belts. And if the WBO would sanction or rank American fighters higher than they do, then the WBO would be better than all of the other major sanctioning bodies- WBA, WBC and IBF. (btw: the IBF has cleaned up alot since the Lee controversy!) What about this bull****- Don King paying Lennox Lewis 1 million smackaroos to NOT fight Chris Byrd! WTF??? I wonder why would Don King do that???...:think
