The reason why a fighter like Briggs is ducked because he's tough and would be hard to knock out, and there's a risk they could be hit with somethng that buzzes them, being buzzed by an old fighter. Any fighter that can expose what level Haye is current at is a decent fight for him. To knock out Briggs, Haye is going to have to go to work so we'll see how his stamina looks like. Or he can win in a boring decision (which is likely) and that doesn't help him imo though likely won't hurt him too much. That's the risk for Haye.

I can only think back to Klitschko vs an old Ray Mercer and Wlad just wiped him off the map. There's merit, and tradition in this type of matchup.

Who wouldn't be a step up from Arnold 'the cobbler' Gjergjaj ?

I see this as a potential Lewis/Mercer type fight when Lewis was given the shock of his life, i wouldn't be surprised to see a Briggs win by KO.

    Bum of the month.

    Briggs is 44 years old
He has not fought anyone, win, lose or draw, on Boxrec's top 25 heavies
His last meaningful fight was six years ago against Vitali Kiltsckho
His last meaningful win was a decade ago, against Serhei Liakovich
Even in his prime, he was given a gift "win" against a 47 year old man

    Briggs sucks. Really.

Don't care for Haye but he had a long layoff. Don't mind him taking the stay busy route.

Within the context of Haye's current comeback, it's a step up. Within the context of Haye's overall career as a championship fighter, it's a step down.

Briggs is pulling a Haye as he talks himself into a big money fight.

    ^ that.

Haye is looking pretty devastating though, despite fighting a (relative) tomato can he did enough to convince me he will be a force to be reckoned with. Briggs will be dangerous at the start of the fight, I see him as an old version of Dillian Whyte is at the start of a fight, no fear and a lot of wild power.

Plan will be obvious - don't get caught before they gas and sooner or later win the fight.

Vitali beat the soul out of Briggs. This fight will be a nail in the coffin.

Briggs is a semi-bum...he has NO CARDIO. Even when he was younger. Briggs/Haye would be tough for about 4 rounds, then Briggs just gets tired its he's done.

I like this Bum Of The Month tour, its cleaning out the contenders from the pretenders, he should face a few other unbeaten prospects like Wallin, Dinu, Wallisch and Schwarz that I have my doubts about.

Stick a fork in Dinu. He could have been something, but he won't. He'll never be anything other than semi-annual Romanian/Canadian undercard filler. He's been making bad choices since the ams.
