Dereck Chisora showed last night, that when motivated he can beat a top ten heavyweight in fact he did bar the official result. This is not the only good result from a british heavyweight, T. Fury has racked up the wins, including a victory of Chisora although Dereck did come in fat. David Price is taking out respected journeyman and prospects out with ease, and he is about to take on seasoned, tough, top level domestic fight John McDermott. Anthony Joshua is the second best heavy and alot of people think the best heavy in the amateurs at the moment, by all accounts he beat Fury up in sparring, and is getting better and better. Exciting domestic clashes. Once the Klitschko's retire there are possibilities for world titles. Haye isn't in it for the long run but the rest are all young heavyweights with a good 10 years in front of them.
Yes most likely- Just you have the potential for 4 top ten heavies....never in British boxing have you had that. Thing is I thought R. Helenius and K. Pulev would be world champions, but both have hit walls.. Helenius defence and movement hasnt improved, even though I thought it would. His main defence is to stand still and tuck in elbows and have a high guard but it exposes his body...which isnt in the best shape to be taking shots which showed his downfall. K. Pulev a good fighter but lacklustre with out serious power or speed which in the long term means he there to be outboxed by a guy like E. Chambers. T. Fury and Chisora have weight issues, one min in shape the next out so motivation is in question. Price, Glazkov, Abulsalmov, Wilder, Mitchell are yet to step up. Perhaps Hgrovic, E. Savon, I, Dychko and A. Joshua are the real next great heavyweights.
An in shape Chisora with his head sorted is trouble for anyone not named Klitschko or Haye. The thing is I think when Chisora and Fury fought we saw the worst of Chisora and about the best that Fury is capable of, so in a rematch I think Chisora would do a lot better. For whatever reason he wanted no part of Fury but having beaten Helenius (**** the judges, he won) his confidence should be high. It's a rematch I'd like to see.
It's a damn site better then it has been, We've got a bit of depth and quality and all seem to have ability to excite. Look at other nations HW's and were blessed at this time IMHO. Be interesting to see how they develop..
