He's not far off in terms of comparisons between their size strength and athleticism. Both were seen as serious forces upon entering MMA. Both have shown distinct dislikes for being hit. Both have been shown up for their lack of experience. At least Brock had his NCAA background on his side. Sapp had bugger all.

Let's not diminish Lesnar's accomplishments, in the span of only a few years taking up MMA seriously, and two years in UFC he has beaten:

    Mir
    Carwin
    Couture.

Sapp hasn't even accomplished half of what Lesnar has in more amount of time. Sapp is kinda like a step up from Akebono

lol, I remember the hype that Bob Sapp had in his K1 days.

He demolished one of the greatest kickboxers of all time, Ernesto Hoost twice and gave Nogueira one hell of a beating (prior to getting subbed). He was believed to be unstoppable until he met Mirko Cro Cop in his next K1 fight. Cro Cop beat the **** out of him and made him cry like a little *****.

Brock's now 5-2 and his "aura of dominance" is completely shattered. His loss to Mir, the beating that he received from Carwin, and the spanking he got from Cain have ensured that Brock will no longer have that intimidation factor that he once had........

In depends what Sapp your talking about, todays Sapp is a bit of a joke and dispite the good style matchup with Nog I don't think he ever had the wrestling to be sucessful for any lenght of time at the highest level in MMA.

If were talking Sapp in K1 in his early career then I do see a clear paralell to Lesnar, indeed you could argue Sapp's wins over hoost are bigger than anything Brock has achieved in MMA.

Both big guys who used their size to cover technical weaknesses.

Both are mentally weak when put under pressure often not looking too impressive even when they win.

Both were promoted beyond what their achievements merited to cash in on public interest.

Heck they both played football before moving into MMA/K1.

The main difference I see is that Sapp had better moves....

Did Bob Sapp defeat Champions and contenders like Couture, Herring, Carwin and Mir ? I think not. Did Bob Sapp win any kind of Championship let alone a major Championship and hold it for 2 years ? **** no. Lesnar is a legit top 10 Heavyweight and his resume proves that.

As has been said Sapp's real focus in Japan ended up being K1 much more than MMA during his prime years. He beat arguebley the greatest HW kickboxer ever twice aswell as a few other decent fighters, you can argue Hoost made serious tactical errors both times looking to brawl with him but then again so did Carwin.

Infact I'd say style played a big part in the rise of both men, Lesnar didnt have to face anyone with good wrestling who hit hard until Carwin and Sapp faced alot of lanky technical kickboxers than he could blitz with the steriod club, when he came up agenst big hitters Crocop and Sefo(I don't think Hunt or JLB would have ended well either) he wasnt nearly as sucessful.

Of coruse that doesnt mean Brock is going to loss interest in fighting and become a TV celeb the way Sapp did and thent half ass it for cash when his 15 mins of fame are up. I wouldnt be supprized if he ended his MMA career pretty early though.

Sapps wins over Hoost are on a par (from a K-1 standpoint) from Lesnars wins in MMA.

Sapp was a freak, chucked Big Nog all over the place, but was outboxed at one point  and eventually subbed.

I don't think Lesnar would've had as much success against Prime Nog as Sapp did (or Fedor for that matter :yep)

then again, Lesnar runs away primarily still looking at his opponent, Sapp would turn his back and run away, and cried like a ***** and fell in a heap when Cro Cop smashed his orbital bone. That's more of a ***** then Lesnar, who, whilst he clearly does not like being hit and folds after little, at least waits until he's wearing a claret mask and has taken a beating to quit.

Lesnar>>>Sapp, and in a fight between teir, ahem, best versions (so far, I think Lesnar will still get some good wins, though they'll never be able to change the fact he's scared of getting hit) I'd pick Brock, a far better wrestler, to avoid Sapps wild clubs, take him down and break his spirit pretty easily.

Although it never gets less frightening watching Sapp charge Big Nog and chuck him round like a rag doll. Sapp was an intomidatng figure, much more than he was a real fighter. He's now part of some brilliantly funny YouTube montages of him shitting himself, squinnying and being chased by much smaller men

lol yes he is. brocks a joke and always will be if he ever fought fedor overeem he would get KILLED in the ring.

hence why dana don't want fedor in the ufc ant acts like he does.

  12. Sapp is far bigger than a beastly of a man, he would dwarf even Brock.

Both men at the same stage had 5–2 early on their career. The problem is that Sapp didnt fight in the UFC so doesnt have all the associated hype.

FFS... lesnar would probably maul anyone in the UFC's HW division thats not called velasquez or carwin... he just gets out classed on the feet

he WOULD take anyone else down & smash them all over the place

Would you say that UFC's heavyweight division is particularly good?

Sapp beat hoost and u can never take that away from him. Both are similar in the sense neither like getting hit or knwo how react to getting hit.
