He's definitely up there. Not that he's bad, he's talented, but people were putting him in their top ten pound for pound list off the back of him beating Gavin Rees, which is just beyond ridiculous. If you were one of those people who had him in your top ten P4P you really are a complete moron and you DKSAB.
he took a beating and i think he wont recover from it mentally, he always thought he was some invincible floyd clone.
"rubish?" typical american hater. you exposed yourself already dont worry, your David Haye will always wear the crown of biggest hype job EVER.....its safe
I give him credit for being ambitious enough to believe he could jump 2 weight classes and be a major player at WW, but him beating the weakest titlist in the division was probably the worst thing to happen to him- it gave him this false sense of confidence that he could actually bang with the big boys at 147. Maidana obviously showed last night how well Broner could take a punch from a true WW and not a blown up JWW in Paulie. If Broner's management team is smart at all, they'll have him stay down at 135 for at least the next year, try to wipe out the LW division and than as his body starts to fill out as he gets older he can attempt to win a title at 140. He's not Hank Armstrong, he shouldn't have thought he could jump from 135 to 147 and start taking on the top guys in the division and think he'd have the same amount of success as he did in the lighter weights. It was a bit too ambitious on his part to be nice, or better yet, just delusions of grandeur from a 24 year old boxer.
They mentioned it a couple times last night that there were certain similarities between this fight and with Naseem Hamed and Barrera when they fought. Hamed was never the same again after the beating he took from Barrera. Hopefully Adrien doesn't follow in the same path, he's a very young and talented boxer who can still do damage at the lighter weights. i was so impressed with him when he destroyed DiMarco at 135, he should've continued to campaign at LW and try to become a kingpin in that division. He's way too young to be jumping 2 weight classes and taking on guys who are just naturally more powerful than him.
had he stayed at 135 and fought miguel vasquez, crawford or abril he would have lost to at-least one of them. if he moved up to 140 and fought matthyse he would have taken a bigger pasting then the one he took last night. they cherry picked maidana as there was already a couple of blue prints on how to beat maidana. broner is well and truely the epitome of a paper champ.
^^Honestly, I was thinking last night after the fight that he was lucky he didn't take on Matthyse instead. Lucas pressures more than Maidana does, and I believe he packs a harder punch as well. He could've been knocked out cold last night if he took on The Machine. I wouldn't call Broner a cherrypicker though. He did take on probably the best LW fighter at the time in Tony DiMarco and completely destroyed him. I didn't like the fact he took on the weakest titlist in the WW division in Paulie, but since it was his first fight in the division and Paulie is a reputable name and good boxer, it wasn't THAT bad of a cherry pick on Adrien's part.
