Is Brook just unaware of how vicious a legit power punching MW is?

He's just got this weird delusion that power, size and strength doesn't matter that much in a sport where you punch. I know he's a Welterweight (a big one too) and it's not like he's some skinny little Featherweight. But come on, the man is nuts and deluded.

Once you get up to 160ish pounds or so these guys start carrying some mass behind them. And the power from an elite puncher in the higher weight classes can be just ****ing insane. Which is what Golovkin features.

This is the Middleweight division. And I don't care how skilled you are. When you're fighting a skilled and concussive 160 pounder and you're giving up size you're ****ed.

He looks a big lad for sure but if he's that big then why has been at Welterweight for so long?
He's a product of the modern age and as Paulie Mallinagi keeps beating on,weight classes are there for a reason, for some reason this fact is not respected and is lost amongst some of the fighters of today,so you could be right,he may have no idea of the difference as his head will be filled with all that dare to be great nonscence?

I think part of this is to hype himself up, promote the fight, and maybe to bait GGG into doing something stupid. It seems illogical to me to think that a professional boxer is this delusional. There is no one in boxing that doesn't know about GGG's power. At this point even casual fans know about it so there is no reason a guy that lives this sport wouldn't have an even better insight towards it.

Paulie's a true ignorant idiot, but he's got one thing right. The weight classes are there for a reason.

Brook is in for a rude awakening and a world of complete physical pain. He just doesn't get it. Or he's lost in misplaced self confidence. This is not the Featherweight division. You cannot just jump up two weight classes and get away with it fighting power punchers with skill. The guys up at 160 pounds are just too big and they're just too strong.

I think Brook is just extremely confident in his abilities and his chin.

Yeah, I think he's in for a rude awakening.

Golovkin doesn't just slug, he can be a fine boxer when he wants to. It's going to be very hard for Kell to make up the size (and skill) deficiency.

This ends before round 4. If Brook goes past that it's like a win for him imho.

I am 99.9% sure he has sparred some middle weights already so he will obviously have an idea of the difference, however GGG is supposed to have freakish power even for a middle weight. Only time will tell can't wait to see this fight.

Before the Lemieux fight, I thought GGG would have lost some ring IQ as he was used to blasting people out so quickly. However, when he came out and immediately established a jab I know that all the ring intellect was still there and his box of tricks was bigger than people though.

This is why Brook will be in for a very rude awakening. GGG is not just a slugger. He has real skills, excellent timing, throws the correct punches at the right time and cuts off the ring at the right time too.

Brook has more special effect I agree, but his upright style that relies on counter right hands and body punching won't work against GGG in a fire fight. As soon as Brook gets punched hard, he will be running. Fast.

For sure he's had to spar against some 160 pounders. But has he fought a pro bout with the hardest punching Middleweight in decades? This is bad news for a guy coming up from 147.

What stupid thing could Golovkin possibly do?
Try to get him out in the 1st? He might actually succeed if he tries.
Try to walk trough Brook's shots? He probably will anyway.
Be too agressive and punch himself out? Brook won't make it to that point.

Promoting the fight, acting like he has a decent chance maybe works for a couple of delusional Britturds, but most fans know what's up anyway.

Good post. I cannot come up with a scenario where Golovkin does something stupid. What could possibly go haywire?

We're talking about a devastating punching Middleweight who knows how to cut off the ring. Fighting a career Welterweight. So Brook catches him with a shot? Ok, who cares?

Also Brook has average handspeed at 147, how will his handspeed be at 160?

    GGG will see everything coming..

Mind over matter, he's got the psychological part down for himself. Can't fault him for trying.

Yes, you can't fault him for trying. But this time it will be matter over mind. This isn't like Pacquiao coming up to fight the best at Featherweight or Lightweight. While impressive it's not the same thing. This is the Middleweight division.

Golovkin is going to enter the ring over 170 pounds. At 5'10" with a lean and solid frame. He is going to be hitting extremely hard. Moving up from WW to fight a MW is much different.
