Is Bute a overhyped bum like Lacy or was it just an off night for him?

Stronger yes, but I will not use the word better...:bart

It was pure destruction, all credit to Froch!

Its not like Froch fans are always right about boxing, but this time, yes, u and all others were right on the spot.

    Congrats!

Lacy had the injury that limited his best weapon as a pro. He wasn't a well rounded enough fighter to overcome the limited use of his left hand. After all he was known as lefthook lacy.

Bute was 2/3 hype too many wanted to make him the next coming without ever beating a legit top 10 fighter. It seems that is happening a lot with fighters coming out of canada of late. First it was diaconu then moliter and now bute. Pascal has been the lease hyped yet has done the best at the world class level. I think pascal would also beat bute up. Thing is I thought that before sat.

I don't know, but it looks like he just has no chin whatsoever. Froch hits fairly hard, but that not hard. So that's why it makes you think it was just a bad night. Only time will tell.

Lacy was just never that good. Bute, also , was never tested but it did seem he was shaken a bit. I dont think he was ready for that big stage.

Lacy didn't have better wins.. Bika and Johnson are better wins... lacy had a win against reid, but I don't think it's a better win than those two, especially when you think of longetivity and how Johnson faired against Ward, Froch, and Cloud... and then Bika gave Ward and Calzaghe really difficult fights. Anyways, Bute is better than Lacy in every aspect except for punch resistance, Lacy can take a good shot.

Bute has looked against decent opposition; fighting Johnson, Bika, Miranda and Andrade. He cant be ****. He had the guts to travel to Frochs backyard and he tried to stay up until the stoppage. I think he can bounce back, but hell knows how it will work out if he fights top dogs again. Would be excited to see him try.

It looks like a clear case of exposing, but I'll reserve judgement until his next fight. Bute wasn't all smoke and mirrors. He didn't have a great resume like Froch's but he still beat Johnson, Bika, Andrade and Miranda, all tough come forward dangerous guys whom he never had much trouble with. He was the first man to KO Andrade, which is where a lot of the hype for his power came from, and at times displayed phenomenal handspeed and sharpness.

Unfortunately, I think it's clear now that he's one of those fighters who can look like a million bucks if he's comfortable, but can also fall apart under the wrong circumstances.

Hard to say. The thing is, Bute was considered to be the best in the SMW and was handily destroyed by Froch. He didn't have a look in.

Maybe Bute wasn't in the right frame of a mind. Who knows, he'll come back stronger or he'll end up like Jeff Lacy.

to say that bute's the best super middleweight on earth, would be overhyping him. to say that he's a complete fraud, is underrating him. he's a very good fighter but he isn't the best. he's somewhere in between. he's the third best super middleweight in the world AT BEST, maybe not even that.

It's understandable that people are totally discrediting him now, especially after the way his fans hyped him up. you're setting your favorite fighters up for seriously disrespectful backlash when they're unproven and you claim, with convicition, that they are the best in the world.

    :patsch Wrong again.
Look at G Johnsons SMW resume

Just a note on G Johnsons SMW career -
In 14 SMW fights Johnson has lost 8 of them.
Johnson has lost at SMW to -

M Sosa who had 5 losses and 2 draws, and lost his next 2 fights after beating Johnson
Kiwanuka who had 3 losses and 2 draws, had lost his last 2 fights coming into his fight with Johnson and his fight after Johnson
Ottke 16-0 who in fairness was an outstanding SMW boxer
Vanderpool 27-1 who lost his next fight, but in fairness that was at MW to Hopkins and Vanderpool had a good run after
Branco 38-4-2 who was a world class SMW and became WBA LHW champ
Sheika who was 19-1 and lost his next fight, though in fairness that was to Calzaghe.
    Froch
    Bute

The SMWs that Johnson has managed to beat
Campas 3-20-4 coming off of only 2 losses and won his next fight
Watson 24-16-1, Johnson was his last fight
Renteria 9-23-5 coming in, whos last 10 fight record before facing Johnson was 0-8-2
Zimmerman 15-2-0 coming in, who had lost his previous fight and the one after
A Green 29-2-0 coming in and Johnsons biggest SMW victory

Its not impressive now is it. Please spare me the robbery talk.
If any rated SMW losses to Johnson it wont look good on their resume

    This content is protected
To think beating Green was all Johnson had to do to become a Ring rated SMW in todays ratings

Johnson was coming in off a loss and was 2-3 in his last 5 fights not to mention sporting 15 defeats and 2 draws

Lacy beat Vanderpool and Sheika who beat Johnson. At SMW Johnson just isnt world class

Lacy beat world rated Reid who hadnt long before looked unlucky against Ottke and had beaten undefeated B Magee putting him down 4 times, Thats Magee who is now the WBA int champ and one of Butes better wins

Whats Bikas best win? Manfredo, yet Lacy beat Tsypko who has better wins than that also

Pathetic , this is so pathetic .. Now Bute is being compared to Jeff Lacy ?

Must be Calzaghe fans trying to discredit Froch at every turn . Yet those same fans picked Bute to win .

Bute was also conisdered the best super middle by all of you clowns .. So sad!

Neither. Bute is still a very good fighter but Froch couldn't be denied Saturday and had the best showing I've seen since Abraham which of course is a lesser fighter than Bute. Bute deserves props for going to Froch's homeplace despite being champion and "fans" of this sport should be ashamed of themselves slagging off Bute. The guy was class in the ring and especially after the defeat.

1 loss and the guy is a "bum/hypejob". 1 LOSS?!!!? He lost to the 2nd best SMW in Froch no shame in that and lots of fighters had far worse losses and still came back to become elite fighters again. No way to tell if Bute will but shame on people not giving him his due. That crowing style is his poison and I still say he stands a good chance against Ward as he does not have the relentless swarming and power to put fear in Bute.

BTW Lacy was a decent fighter and funny how he's considered a "hypejob" right after losing to the greatest SMW in Calzaghe. Hyped up yes but still a great win for Calzaghe and if he didn't fight him im sure people would claim Zaghe "ducked him".
