Is Lucian Bute #1 in his division?

26-0 with wins over Andrade, Miranda, Berrio, and Bika, and only the controversial first fight with Andrade counting against him.

Is he the clear #1 at his weightclass now? Is someone else #1? Or is he merely the temporary guy at the top, until someone wins the showtime tourney?

I voted no although I am a fan. He is not no.1 until he faces and wins against the guys in the Super Six. I think he actually can beat them but until this happens he is one of the best but not no.1

I place him second behind Ward, though not by a significant margin.

In my opinion Froch is #1 right now. Ward and Bute behind him.

Due to the Super-Six the #1 can change a few times the next months.

I think he is probably the top guy in the division. He has the best overall level of opposition, and the best combination of skill, power, size and speed of anyone in the division. That said we won't really know till he fights the winner of the Super Six, and even then we may not know because styles make fights.

At this exact moment his nr1. If Froch beats Kessler he will probably be nr1. The nr1 might change a lot.Probably the s6 winner will be nr1 at the end of the tourney unless Bute beats all or some of those guys Hopkins/Pavlik/Dawson/Dirrell (if he's eliminated from the s6)
You should have the option yes until someone else prove himself more deserving

Ward and Bute are equally number one.
I would love to see these two guys keep winning and faceoff after the tournament is over. I would say Ward would win right now.... But what the hell do I know? :huh

I love how he was number 1 until a tournament excluded him and rather than beating him other ppl are 1 just by hogging the competition. Bute is the man right now but was excluded from the mix. And Ward has one win.

He looks like the man now. But he was in fact KOed against Andrade. I think he should win against the winner of the tournament to be considered number 1. It's easy to look good when you are fighting B level fighters

I would say that he is the top fighter right now, but wow, what a division. More than even two guys who can make a claim to being the top fighter at 168lbs. I think we'll only know once the tournament is over, and that guy fights Bute. That means a lot of waiting to find out who is the best, but this is a dilemma I'll take any day. I am a time collector, and this is a wonderful time to collect.
