    definitely not...

dirrel & ward have a better claim to #1 than bute...

bute beat andrade who sucks... andrade losing was a given & so was miranda.... not a big deal

He may have been if Andrade had stayed in his corner during the count. That's on Andrade.

He was never invited. They wanted 3 Americans(Dirrell Ward Taylor replaced by Green later). And they choose 3 world champions Kessler WBA who was "the man" at SMW nr1 at that time Abraham middleweight IBF word champ had the same promoter as Kessler and Froch WBC. So Bute could only get in the s6 in Froch's place. But they had never invited Bute for some reason. When they were asked at first they said "Bute was never invited" and gave no reason... later they said something about Bute being a good champion but the tourney works fine without him.

Probably because of costs. Bute would have been more expensive than Froch or any of the Americans.

Based on recent accomplishments Froch is probably #1

Head to head I'll take Bute.

    Froch isn't nr1
    <--- He is
But Froch can be nr1 if he beats Kessler ... :(

Excellent fighter but as far as I'm concerned, the lineal title is vacant in his weight class. It's full of excellent fighters at 168.

No I don't think he is.

I'd say Froch is top dog, beating Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell in consecutive fights.

Froch's best wins: Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell.
Bute's best wins: Andrade, Bika, Berrio.

It is quite obvious that Froch has the better resume right now.
