Bute became champion at his 21st fight. He has faced 3 top ten of the division and is planning to fight Froch for a unification bout. You need to be an idiot to say he's taking the easy road. There is no problem, you are an idiot.
SPoken like a true nuthugger.. I dont blame u.. Anyone who knows boxing knows that Bute hasn't fought a serious threat.. He's a paper champion who's yet to face an elite opposition. How can a so called champion not have a single W over an elite fighter on his record?? He's the epitome of a paper champ.
What, 24 title fights undefeated across two weight divisions, holding all titles in one division and unifying against the biggest threat in the division (Kessler) ? Nah, Bute isn't going the hard route.
Andrade is better than any opponent any of the other SMW champs have faced unless you think Jermain Taylor is some sort of great fighter.
Andrade is a crude walking chin who can't do **** against anyone who has a gameplan - Kessler dismantled him across 12 rounds and then was cleanly beaten, at times to the point of embarassment by Calzaghe. Bute has got a good start to his career, if he manages to face Froch, Kessler, Inkin and maybe hit some of the 175lbers too - then he's got a good career in my view. I just think Kessler will dismantle him if they ever fight.
i think bute has the tools, the potential to be on top but he's too green against the cream of the crop. He's faced good opposition but not great and he needs to step it up before i give him a shot against kessler or even froch
Thing is - the guy is a ****ing champion. He shouldn't be fighting tune ups, he shouldn't be saying "I'll be ready in a year for Kessler" like he did after the Calzaghe fight - he should back himself now.
As respected columnist Dan Rafael told us: "Calzaghe reminded the audience during his acceptance speech that the biggest fights of his career -- Mikkel Kessler in November 2007 and his 2008 fights with Hopkins and Jones -- happened to be the ones that were made when he was his own manager. Good point, actually." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4256594&name=rafael_dan
Well, according to Froch on Buncey's Boxing Hour, Bute's people actually approached him about a possible fight first. It's the best fight to be made @ SM at the moment, IMO, considering Kessler's current sabbatical.
Unlike Froch and Kessler, he actually won his title by beating a titlist. And you know there hasn't been any elite opposition for him to face. It's early in his career yet, and he's generally made fights with the best opponents available. Hell, he even offered a fight to your boy Allan Green, on two separate occasions, and both times Green turned it down. I realize the price wasn't right the second time, but he was just an idiot for turning down the offer the first time.
