I noticed there are some similarities between the two while discussing Pulev vs Jennings. Pulev barely beat an aged Thompson and that fight gives some hints as to what could happen at Pulev vs Jennings, and more importantly perhaps shed some light on Jennings` future career. They both started their career rather late, They both had a great run until facing Klitschko, They are about the same height, They both have above average reach, They are both good defensively, They are both somewhat limited offensively, You cant just be an empty hype and beat them, but they wont go easily win belts either. What are your thoughts?
Thompson went 12 rounds on his last 4 fights, I dont think you can do that with a poor stamina at the age of 43-44. Agility yes, Jennings is more athletic, I guess being in top shape is the only edge he has over Thompson. But overall, I find them quite similar even with different styles. They are also both very patient in the ring, never rush things.
Thompson goes 12rounds against fatboy 270lb solis. Come on listen. Thompson has 5-6 good rounds in him, and then gets outworked and thats thompsons main problem, Pulev outworked after the fifth. Takam had thompson on the laying on the ropes for most of the fight, doing nothing at all but swaying. And i wasnt saying he has poor stamina for a 44 year old but jennings stamina is simply better. damn man, if you cant see that you need to watch tony again. He becomes very sloppy, fights at a snails pace after the 6th round. Where as Jennings had enough where with all and gastank to go 12th with Wladmir Klitchko.
Right now, probably, but 10 years ago? He didnt only go the distance with Solis but with Pulev and Takam as well. He lost those 2 fights yes, but with a not-so-good stamina, you just get knocked out late as soon as you run out of gas against such opposition - he didnt even get knocked down. Let me rephrase it, Jennings 2015 is similar to Thompson 2005 (hence the "young Thompson").
Thats a more similar comparsion. but i still dont think tony in 2005, has the stamina of current jennings or the fleet of foot. He does possess a sneakier and craftier power punch though, i dont think jennings is going too stop any of the top 10 on his way back to contention. UDs.
