Thoughts? IMO I think its little bit of both...Reasons being Antonio in the past to have shown he could take a punch from some of the fierce punchers so I think he folded due to wear and tear on his chin...With the increase in age...it always happens like that with good fighters...Dont get me wrong...Cain showed how lethal he was in that fight...Antonio just didnt fall for no reason...So I have to give props to Cain on how techinally sound he was in there with a veteran fighter Thoughts?????
He's for real in the sense that it' clear by now he'll tear through anybody who isn't elite. The question is whether he sticks true when in with elites (not that Nog wasn't at one point).
Thats the way I was looking at it myself...IMO the only way I can find out is if he fights somebody like Mir...Mir is still rather young and he has a lot more left that Antonio...I think Cain will do some damage in the Heavyweight division because of his aggresive style...Just trying to see him match-up up against a more well balanced fighter like Mir.
It was a little of both. But Cain is a scary dude. He's definately for real. That fight wasn't even fair.
Both clearly Nogueira cant take a good shot nor see them coming quickly. So obviously his punch resistance and reflexes are shot to hell. Nog is still a very good fighter and top 10 Heavyweight who was in good shape and coming off a strong win over Randy Couture so the win does mean something. Its not like Cain just hit him with ugly and slow punches na he landed good, crisp, fast and power combos that laid out Nogueira. Add improving striking skills to a guy with great wrestling and ground control, vicious GNP and a never ending gas tank you got a true force in this divison.
Nog was arguably the best HW in the world a few years back. Shot or not, it's a great feather in Cain's cap, and he's definitly the real deal.
This is what id like to see happen to sort it out Cain vs Cameron Winner vs Mir Winner vs Brock the champ would be great.....
Old Nog could be put on his back but he wouldn't be so vulnerable. He could take it. Now he gets put down and finished. I also think alot of it has to do with how the UFC like explosive stoppages but Pride like stoppages via death.
