I think his mental capabilities put him above other fighters ?
Calzaghes greatest strenght is his 'brain', he always finds a way to win and always believes he will win ?
How many other boxers would have suffered 1st round knockdowns against living legends/greats and still come back to win ?

Not yet. 3 good wins (Lacy,Kessler,Hopkins), 2 decent wins (Mitchell and Eubank though that only barely qualifies) and a raft of wins over poor-to-mediocre opposition do not make you an All-Time Great.

If he fights on and beats more quality opponents, then yes he probably should be considered an ATG. Right now, his resume isn't good enough. Simple as that.

    IMO.

For me ATG is top 125 fighters of all time.

    Calzaghe is close.

He's a modern British great as it stands

But the Eubank fight counts as much as your boy Manny's wins over Barrera and Morales

Add to the pot the fact he went life or death with Marquez who is no spring chicken, and that he took the easy option in Diaz in his last fight and it shows you can dissect anybody's record

just for the record pacquiao would be number 1 on my current p4p list pacfan84 so calm down

He is easily an ATG. Eubank went on to almost win the cruiserweight title, two weightclasses up from his career weight, after losing to Calzaghe. He was an ATG supermiddleweight close to his prime and Calzaghe took the tilte from him like a true new champion. He always won since, this distinguishes him. How many ATG's suffered losses against mediocre opposition they were supposed to beat? He unified twice against undefeated belt holders and beat Hopkins, who, as we know since the Pavlik fight, was anything but shot.

I have no doubt that no matter what happens in the remainder of his career he will be placed on an ATG list by journo's or historians in the future.

The Eubank fight counts as much as Pac's 1st win over Barrera or his 1st win over Morales?!!?!?!?!

You clearly know nothing of the circumstances surrounding the Eubank fight nor do you understand that Morales and Barrera are both vastly superior fighters to Eubank.

 He may be no spring chicken, but he is pound-for-pound number 2... ahead of a certain Mr C.

    ****ing bull****.

Firstly, Eubank was not the champion, he was a very late replacement to fight for the vacant title. Secondly, Eubank was so far from being prime its not funny. He only had two more fights after the Calzaghe defeat, both at CW and both of which he lost. If you are going to teabag and big Calzaghe up in the future, please make sure you make a more convincing and plausible argument :hi:

number 2 in YOUR opinion mate

and calzaghe had never gone 12 rounds before so that was a great win in retrospect

barerra and morales were not the same fighters they once were so the argument is valid in terms of fighting aging guys

you can write another essay if you like....but it wont matter

Let him beat Hopkins clearly in a rematch and we can talk about it...
