If I were Calzaghe, I would go for the money and try to become the light heavyweight champion.

He doesn't need to get the super middleweight title defense record - he is already universally recognized as a better fighter than Sven Ottke.

To think that people don't consider Joe Undiputed is RIDICULOUS. Joe didn't want to face Berrio (who he would have destroyed) and then Berrio loses to Bute right away and Bute "wins" the IBF belt. Joe actually won the IBF belt from a real champion and NO ONE would argue that he would have lost it between then and now. Therefore, Bute is a titleist and Joe is the UNDISPUTED Champion at 168. Suck it. Like Bute would have a chance against Calzaghe. Find me one person who would bet $20 on Bute to win. Find me one. Kessler should go after Bute so he can set himself up to be champ once Calzaghe goes up to 175.

No need for anyone to insult Bute at all. He has the IBF belt, but Calzaghe is undisputed Champion.

I agree that Bute's title is meaningless at 168lbs at the moment. Calzaghe is the undisputed 168lbs champion. No question asked!

But I do not think Calzaghe is the rightful owner of that title. He was going to get stripped of the title for refusing to fight his mandatory challenger. He wanted to fight Manfredo instead.

Now if he refused to make a defense because he was about to fight a top contender in the division I would have a different opinion on the issue.

But refusing to fight you mandatory challenger 29-0 Stieglitz so you can fight The Contender loser Manfredo instead is a pretty good reason for getting stripped especialy since that title had not been defended against the mandatory challenger is almost 2 years.

He should stay at 168 and win 6 more fights.

He would be 50-0 and would have 27 title defenses.

That way he can also fight Pavlik, Taylor and Trinidad-Jones winner. But he has to forget of Hopkins and Dawson.

I edited my first post. Calzaghe could fight Pavlik, Taylor or Trinidad-Jones winner. He could also call Hopkins and challenge him at 168. Hopkins can go down to 168.
