Joe is a great....based on his ability, skills and longevitiy. Although he doesn't have a GREAT resume. Just a really good one.
but thats the conundrum..any euro fighter as skilled as joe is can have longecity. best of the B grade fighters is all joe earned..and thats the truth. you cant call a fighter great if he never dared to be..and he never did.
No one can deny his talent though. Joe was one of the most talent and skillful fighters during his era and although he never really tested himself against the best during his prime he showed signs of his greatness...albiet against B level opposition. But I truly believe Joe is great....not in terms of who he faught and who he beat bc his best wins are against Nard at 43 yrs (Still a very good win) and Jones Jr who was pretty much shot, although Jones looked great against Lacy whom he should have any how. Joe dared to be great......just at a time when he was on his way out and looked for againg greats that were still fighting.
Was Ali a great fighter then? What was his KO percentage??? This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 61 rounds boxed 550 : KO% 60.66 This is Ali's ko%!!!! Here now is Joe Calzaghes record.... This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 46 rounds boxed 262 : KO% 69.57 J. Calzaghe = almost a 9% higher KO%!!!! So based on your logic Ali wasnt a great fighter. Joe Calzaghe will go down in history as a GREAT FIGHTER.One of very few to hold a world title 10yrs and remain undefeated all throughout his career!!!
I agree, Hamed could have been a great fighter. He had better attributes, more talent and skill than Calzaghe. But Hamed didn't prove his greatness. Therefore I can only give him credit for being a 'very good' fighter.
i agree with you until you said he dared to be great but looked for aging greats...theres no such thing. if he dared to be great he''d have left warren and did what hatton did. hatton dared to be great...joe decided to rake in the cash and thats the truth. if anyone has more respect for calzaghe than hatton then i'll never understand that. calzaghe's a better fighter - but hatton ****ed off the bull**** that calzaghe justified his career by.
is this dinamita or is it just hoya uk? Calzaghe clearly was a great fighter. Comparing him to Tarver and Johnson or whoever you were on about is silly
