after reviewing his resume...great. Better than the group[ you think he belongs with.

My opinion has actually changed slightly, I would put Calzaghe at the bottom of the 'great' group, rather than the top of the 'very good' group. :good

Have you started to believe the hype too? What is great about his resume? Kessler? Was a close fight and I was there live, many people there thought calzaghe lost. Hopkins? Man he is 43 y.o no matter what. Glen johnson and tarver koed jones years ago. Lacy... That's pretty much it. Not saying JC wasn't very good I was a fan of him many years ago but he wasted his best years and then began cherry picking. But if calzaghe is a legend then so is ottke, he is undefeated too. Plus he unified before calzaghe lol.

then would you object regarding anyone of the following as an 'A' class ?
zab judah , hamed , andre berto .
judah is regarded as having a great raw talent , so he's an 'A' class , right ?

his 'skills' were never tested against top oposition IN IT'S PEAK.
i have nothing against him personally. his management was also smart.
why should he travel to the U.S to fight nunn or liles if he has eubanks at the U.K (who's also good) , reid at the u.k , and mitchell travels to him ? he sold well in the U.K , so why travel to the U.S ? i do believe that if that same calzaghe was american he would have fought the better (not necessarily much better) oposition.
but you just don't KNOW that he has that 'raw' talent because he never faced a proven talented oposition in its peak.
you didn't see him getting outboxed by nunn or liles (or both) only to stop them late. you didn't see him get frustrated by a peak roy jones.
maybe even it's not his fault at all , maybe it was financially stupid also for his potential oposition to make fights with him in the U.S , but still ,
we will probably (unless comebacking and beating dawson) know that he has that big 'raw' talent.

I'd like to hear Roy Jones Jr's answer to this question.

My guess is that he would say, "Joe is the greatest fighter of our generation!!"

    Right, ok.

And I didn't say Calzaghe had a great resume, or that he was a legend.

Plus, Ottke never unified the division. He was never an undisputed champion, and he wasn't linear at two weights.

Lol he actually had the ibf, a real belt for a long time then he unified with mitchell, never said he was undisputed. You know, many fights appear different on tv and live. I'm not sure calzaghe was ever linear champ.. Don't have time to check that up. Real champ he only became after ottke retired.

If he don't have a great resume, how can he then be great?

Ottke unifed two belts, Calzaghe unified the entire division. He had all four major belts and the Ring title at 168. Then he beat the linear champ at 175 (Hopkins).

There is a BIG difference between the accomplishments of Calzaghe and Ottke.

Not true, calzaghe had the WBOgus and kessler WBC and WBA.
You know undisputed in the sense WBC IBF and WBA is not the same as linear right?

I think I'm showing a lot of restraint by explaining this to you..

Calzaghe won the WBO title from Eubank, then beat Lacy for the IBF title, then Kessler for the WBC, WBA and Ring belts - becoming the undisputed champion at 168. If there is no linear champion, becoming undisputed establishes lineage.

Calzaghe then moved up to 175 and defeated the linear/Ring title holder Bernard Hopkins
