is calzaghe hated by alot of boxing fans because he has no power?

Joe Calzaghe isnt hated, he is most likely envied. Unbeaten, 2 weight champion and can fill a stadium. Ling live Hopkins and his 4000 fans.

 

why would there be people jealous and envious of calzaghe? for being unbeaten and 2 weight champ?

 

Unbeaten champion for nearly 5 years with a following. Thats who.

 

Joe is doing his best work at the end of his career. Should have come to the U.S. sooner. I'd rate him #1 p4p based on his 45-0 record, 11-year reign at 168 and victories over Hopkins (still #4 p4p according to the Ring ratings), Kessler (who was around #12 p4p when they fought) and Lacy (who was favored in that fight).

Calzaghe is already in the HOF but if he can finish up with victories over Roy and Pavlik then I'd rank him up there with Hearns and Hagler (but just below Leonard and Duran).

 

Albeit that was a small following until recently..

 

Anyone who loves boxing - likes what Calzaghe can do in a ring.

 

Calzaghe had a title at super middleweight for awhile. Hopkins-Calzaghe was supposed to be part of a Showtime contract for Hopkins, and it was pretty lucrative, but Hopkins was going to have to pay too much for his liking to Don King.

In order to be part of the middleweight unificiation tournament, Hopkins had to sign with Don King. Look at his fights from 2002 thru 2003 (Daniels, Hakkar, Joppy) and how much money he made (Hopkins got like $150k for Joppy) and then the fights from 2004-on when he was no longer with King.

 

I don't care if he's American he f-ing sucks.

Calzaghe had power,but he wasn`t an instant one punch ko merchant.He used to load up a big swooping lefthand that carried some serious wallop,as Eubank found out.

 

Did you happen to see jeff lacys face after their boxing match? It might not look powerful but those are not slaps.

Calzaghe not being a big lights out puncher doesn't really matter much to me. I'm just not a fan because of his style, it's too damn ugly.

There's very few fighters with ugly styles that I like.

 

I think the thread starter raises a valid question. Of course nobody is going to admit to it. I do think its part of the equation of Calzaghe hate.

 

They hate Calzaghe for the same reasons they hate Vitali and Vlad Klitschko, along with most all the other European fighters.
