questioning pacmans commitment doesn't help your cause. tough opponents = tough fights most of the time, and its obvious what Joe meant when he said he didn't want them. the question is why his guard was down so low for him to admit that publically.
in 46 fights how many times not including his last two in america did joe fight outside the uk , so at this point in 44 fights how many defenses on away turf :think , i will give you a clue its one more than zero:-verysad
Well, what did you expect him to do? He fought in Denmark, Germany and twice in the US. He was the champion, he attracted large crowd and earned more money in his home country, there was no reason to ever move and fight in another country, yet he moved up to LHW, went to the US and defeated Hopkins and Jones in their own country. I also think that the world champion should defend his title at various countries through the world, but there's hardly anything wrong if you decide to defend it in your own country, after all that's what logic says.
so why did he go to america so late citing its all about the money man :huh he probably made more in the last two fights than his whole carrer :yep
yeah calzaghe nuthuggers like to claim that he was making enough money staying in Cardiff so why should he go elsewhere -conveniently explaining why he was happy to fight weaklings for years.... and then destroy their own argument by saying he needed a career high payday to explain why he chased 40something oldies instead of fighting the upcoming primes, conveniently explaining why he was happy to fight perceived weaker options later on. fortunately at least Joe is happy to tell the truth and expose the lies of calzaghe nuthuggers. - he did it because he didn't want tough fights (direct quote).
Well, during his early title reign he was definitely making more money fighting in the UK than he would if he went to the US, because he was a star in his home country, but wasn't widely known in the US. Later, when he defeated Jeff Lacy, it increased his reputation in the US. He just picked the right time to go to the US and picked the right opponents to fight in terms of money. If he went to fight in the US at 2004 or 2005, there's no way he would have earned more money than he was earning home. This was just a respond to your money thing. Overall I generally don't support when the champion skips a worthy challenger and goes for more money instead.
He may not have wanted tough fights and was good enough to often not to have them. But what he did do was take on the best opposition in his division that would face him. Proofs in the resume You still ducking the original questions and going on about a division outside SMW atsch. Only Dino I dont think many would want to have them for no reason. Thats where Calzaghe was good enough not to have to have them whilst still beating top SMWs Calzaghe was the best SMW in the world and is the best SMW ever. In fact look at how the current champ and #1s best win is a faded fighter who Calzaghe beat when prime Have you watched Eubank/Calzaghe? If so you may recall what Eubank said when walking away towards the dressing area after the fight?
Froch is considered by many to have had tough fights. Tell me who was considered his best win? Waffle out of it Herol
Best is different than greatest. I don't think anyone in their right mind would pick a peak Calzaghe over a peak Jones at 168. But RJJ left the division quickly. Calzaghe achieved much more at 168.
Will someone please explain to me how on earth any level minded boxing fan could call Joe Calzaghe the greatest SMW without bursting out laughing???? Hell the guy is incapable of throwing a legitimate scoring punch ROFLMAO The robbery of Bernard Hopkins rivalled anything Jesse James ever pulled. This was cemented when Slappy Joe refused a rematch with Nard at home in Wales & instead went on a sniffin drunken ho chasing binge & took his frustrations out on innocent little bunny rabbits. They cant fight back can they Joe??????
