Joe Calzaghe has never faced, let alone beaten, an elite fighter.

His three biggest wins are against Lacy, Eubank, and Kessler, none of whom are all-time greats in the sport. In fact, considering its short history defined by relative weakness, it's fair to say that these three foes were mediocre, at best.

Hopkins, on the other hand, is an elite fighter and an all-time great. He can retire tomorrow and his legacy is already well-established. Much like a modern day "Old Mongoose", Hopkins is an ageless wonder.

Three times in his career he has outclassed fighters who were universally recognized amongst boxing's pound-for-pound elites.

Calzaghe recently claimed he wanted to fight Hopkins, but it no appears he was talking a lot of ****. It appears that Calzaghe is scared shitless of losing to Old Man Hopkins, for a loss would put his entire legacy in jeopardy and would lead to many a legitimate question pertaining to his extremely weak resume.

Is Calzaghe scared shitless of Hopkins?

I believe he is, or more specifically, he's scared shitless at the prospect of LOSING to Hopkins.

    de la hoya - Welterweight
    trinidad - Welterweight
Wright - lmw fighting at lhw
    Tarver - lol.

Where are these world class middleweights that Hopkins has beaten ?

Oh thats right, he lost to Jermain Taylor, TWICE. Who would get shutout by Calzaghe with one hand.

None of the above. Calzaghe isn't afraid, but Warren is a tight-fisted mother****er who won't let his cash cow go to USA.

    I'm all broken up!

The fact remains, it's a genuine question. If Calzaghe never fights Hopkins or ANY elite fighters, his delusional fans can continue pretending he's this incredible fighter, as they presuppose he would have beatne anyone and everyone--this, despite the fact he's never beaten someone worth a squirt of ****, other than the shitty contenders which have been produced in a shitty division still technically in its infancy.

Bottom line: If Calzaghe DOES lose to Hopkins (which I believe is a foregone conclusion) Calzaghe's entire legacy IS in danger.

It's a legitimate question, and, all joking aside, I sincerely believe that Calzaghe IS afriad of losing against the only worthy opponent he will ever have faced.

A win would do wonders for him, but a loss does great damage to his reputation.

Do you really disagree with this?

Why are you LOL at Tarver?

Before Hopkins made him look like an old man, Tarver was universally recognized as the best LHW in the world. Almost no one thought Hopkins would beat Tarver let alone dominate him. Hopkins exposed Tarver. Just like he exposed Wright. He exposes anyone. He exposed JT. Has JT done anything great after Hopkins fought him? Not really right?

Give credit where it's due. Hopkins did something amazing against Tarver.

...and you wonder sometimes why Joe wants this fight so badly...even if it is for a lot of money... ...well, with attitudes like these, why wouldn't he taka candy from an old man and get applause from across the pound for it?

Hopkins was a 3:1 underdog against Tarver, and there weren't too many people giving B-Hops a chance going into that bout, which he dominated.

Tarver, Trinidad, and Winky were all elite fighters when Hopkins bested them.

Calzaghe has never even faced an elite opponent.

i'm sorry but this is nut huggery to the extreme. an astonishing remark, how on earth did you come to this conclusion? hopkins performances were pathetic in the taylor fights, and taylor quite rightly got the nod both times.

the tito win is a good win, the wright win means **** all. the fact he had to eat his way up to 170 and looked so **** and sluggish up there completely erases any elite and P4P claims.
