On the Official Joe Calzaghe website it has an article on Oct 28 entitled 'Calzaghe Shuns Retirement Talk' on Nov 4 it has an article entitled 'Calzaghe Planning to cap a Career with a Farewell to Remember'. Does this mean if he losses to Jones he will rematch him in Cardiff and if he beats Jones he will retire undefeated after the bout ?
He probably ain't sure himself. He probably will fight again. He has been contradicting himself about this.
It's possible, if he wins then I expect him to either have one more fight or retire. If he loses then a rematch is guaranteed and maybe a few more fights after it.
I think he will fight once more in Cardiff against a so so opponent and go out in his home country. But hey you never know,i also think he wants to see how he performs tonight
He ha said that he will retire in "1 or 2 more fights" for the last 4 years. Every time I claimed he would not - and I have been right every time. Calzaghe will fight for AT LEAST 2 years more.
Calzaghe seems pretty clear on the subject, he is going to retire. I don't know though, I can' imagine him NOT fighting in Wales again. Surely his last fight would be there.
He could have one more fight, but I don't know if it's going to be a "big" one. Certainly he's gonna consider rematching Jones IF he somehow loses.
i think he is up set with the last performance and plans retirement on the performance of this fight, he has talked about dawson,so there may be a possibility of a final fight at cardiff if the money is right.
I believe Calzaghe is still open to box again, but if it depends how he looks & ultimately, if he wins or loses against Jones. If Calzaghe shows signs that he's on the slide but still manages to win then I suspect he will retire. If he dominates Jones, wins in impressive fashion, then I reckon he'll box once more because you are only as tgood as your last fight. The same applies if Joe were to lose. He would have no choice bu to enforce the rematch clause & try to avenge what would be his only defeat as a pro to date! For what its worth, I thought Joe looked a little soft around the mid-section at the weigh-in. Myabe this is sings that training has indeed become a bit of a burden to Joe? I know Boxing is not a body-building contest but I'm just saying what I saw. Jones, on the other hand, look in good shape!
if joe wins....hes gonna get offered a truck load of money for another super fight....probably back home.... if hes content or not greedy he will retire...but its gonna be damn tempting
Probably fight Felix Trinidad at LHW, claim that Trinidad is still one of the best fighters in the world.
