I'm genuinely starting to believe that some of these Calzaghe "fans" are just fantastic trolls who are trolling the shite out of both sides of the Calzaghe argument. It's like chum in the water. Brilliant actually.

Calzaghe was a great fighter fast hands great stamina iron chin with a high ring IQ. For some reason people just love to bash the guy for no good reason. I remember picking against Calzaghe for the his fight against Lacy although I knew of Joe I'd never seen him fight before. Had I seen him fight there's no way in hell I would have picked Lacy to beat him and after that fight I became a fan. Calzaghe's win over Hopkins is underrated and the way he made adjustments in the second half of that fight was nothing short of brilliant.
Joe Calzaghe is a ATG and would be great in any era. I wish Joe wouldn't have retired when he did he had at least 2 good fights left in him. I wanted to see him fight Dawson and perhaps a rematch with Hopkins.

Calzaghe was an awesome boxer, one of the best that ever lived. His record shows that. Marvelous Marvin Hagler always regarded him very highly and Hagler rarely complimented other fighters. I remember clearly a huge majority favoured the young lion Kessler over Joe and well Joe schooled him. Eddie Murphy and Ray Leonard travelled to Britain to see their "young Tyson" Lacy knock out Joe. Joe toyed with the one dimensional puncher. It just goes on and on. One of the all time greats and will be recognized as such now that boxing is a global sport and not all the boxing historians will be jingoistic Americans like Bert Sugar.

The Cal vinci code thread was amusing but I think if mods funneled all these (retired) Calzaghe troll threads to the UK forum then this place would be improved. Thanks.

Hopkins is a tier 1 fighter, but Calzaghe who beat Hopkins, is only a tier 2 fighter???

if that makes sense to you, then run with it.

no he isn't the best ever. he's one of the best ever, yes.

and the sad truth is that Floyd hasn't faced Pac, Bradley, Thurman, Brook or Porter and the like at Welter.

nether has he faced Lara at 154.

some champ you have there in Floyd.
