Why? Because he's getting well deserved recognition while overrated fighters are starting to get put in place?

Sorry he's a european Axe, I know that makes it difficult to rate him.

The type of resume you want him to have so you can give him 'legendary credit' is the type of resume that most non-european fighters get called top 30-40 ATG fighters on!

Hopkins, Pavlik and Dawson coupled with his already very solid resume is a fearsome one. I think his resume is one of the most underrated in the whole sport.

How is Calzaghe getting "well deserved recognition" and other fighters are "over-rated".

For TEN damn years, Calzaghe (and Ottke, granted) kept an entire division hostage. Now he fights 2 up and coming undefeated fighters, and he's all of a sudden getting well deserved recognition?

IMO, Calzaghe represents ALL that is wrong with boxing. You see that with Floyd... Damn, how different opinions can be.

Makes you wonder what his legacy would be if he were black and came from any US slum.

The lack of names on his resume is really going to hurt him, unless he starts picking guys off now, which it seems like he's doing. From 97-06, he fought alot of fighters many have never even heard of, which lead to the majority of people believing a one-dimensional hype job like Lacy was going to knock him out, and this was almost 2 years ago to the day since he fought Lacy. The only good fighters he currently has on his resume is Eubank and Kessler, which currently doesnt bode to well for him being a legend in anyones book, aside from a few diehard Joe Calzaghe fans.

Yeah, i'm sure he is a "legend" to you. How many times do you look up at your Calzaghe poster every day and wish he was inside you?

Depends what you mean by legend, fo me that is a very overused word and i would only consider about 10 or 20 fighters all time as 'legends' so i would say no.

However he is a HOF and an atg in my view so if that is what you meant then i would say yes

    Is Cotto a legend then?

In my opinion, you could argue his resume is as good, if not better than Joe's already.

Plus, he already beat his past-it legend in Mosley.

    Just a thought...

i agree, but i don't give him credit for beating a past his prime eubank. I do give him credit for guys like brewer who even though the bad record he had is much better than the one dimensional lacy. And i'm not american but thats how i see it. Calzaghe is no legend to me
