Jones and Mosley don't belong there, at this stage in their careers. Probably not Hatton either. Manny Pacquiao has great stamina. He has to use a lot of energy in his style but still goes a strong 12.
he always seems to spend a lot of energy letting his hands go and all but most of those punches don't have a lot on them. I think there are plenty of fighters as conditioned as calzaghe and some more so.
no he just uses less energy because he is not trying to hurt anyone. He only tries to win on points with slaps, which take much less energy. Not a real fighter only entertainer that knows his slaps win him fights because of the judges lack of boxing knowledge
I know you hate Calzaghe and think Hop won the fight, but this is how basic judging goes in boxing, hit and don't get hit. Hops got hit, and didn't throw any punches, therefore didn't hit!
For a man of 36, nearly 37 to have a workrate like Calzaghes is phenominal and from what i can think, unrivalled. Mayweather, Haye, Hatton al train hard and com in to a fight in good shape, but they dont fight at the pace joe does - nor are they as old.
It is probably tough to say who is THE best conditioned fighter today. But Calzaghe, Mayweather, Hatton, and the Marquez brothers are the fighters who come to mind (I know I'm forgetting a few that I'll think of later). Roy Jones at his peak was incredibly professional, in the sense that he was always in top condition regardless of the caliber of opposition he was facing. Kostya Tszyu is another person who was famous for his grueling training regimen.
Holyfield is another guy who seemed to be able to fight at a fast pace (especially for heavyweights), even as he started to get pretty old.
Holyfield fought at a more measured pace when he got older, and was more controlled with his aggression.
