Here are the pro and con arguments for Calzaghe to be considered into the Hall of Fame:

    1. He has a long undefeated record. All the boxers (with the exception to Kessler and BHOP) are arguably B+ or less. He has defended his championship 20+ times.

    2. He beat a prime Mikkel Kessler who was undefeated, BUT Kessler has yet to prove in the ring beating a A or A- fighter. Kessler also has refused to fight Miranda after taking the fight which to some would suggest that Kessler doesn't feel confident about fighting Miranda, and therefore isn't as good as many would hope to be.

    3. Calzaghe beat a passed prime Bernard Hopkins (ATG and HOFer) who was also coming up in weight.

Your points are taken, I feel Calzaghe needs just a couple more to put him in that status, a win over RJJ is not what I'm talking about either, Dawson and especially Pavlik are the wins he needs right now. I just have a feeling he's going to fight RJJ for big money and call it a day, or better yet, a career.

Yeah but we live in the real world.

Would you, in Joe's position, fight Dawson for maybe a million, Pavlik for a good pay day or a shot RJJ for twice that and change?

Roid Jones is the big money fight, then he can go from there.

I would obviously fight RJJ, but Calzaghe said he's fighting for his legacy, not the paycheck. If that is the case, Pavlik would be not only a nice payday, but also a more credible and solid win than a aging RJJ, thats just my take on it.

HOF without a doubt, not an ATG though.

I agree with you Pavlik would be a far more credible win to those that know boxing. Sadly to Joe average, who has never heard of any boxer except Tyson and RJJ, RJJ would be the more impressive win. And an easier fight. And waaaaay more money.

Add the fact that RJJ has already said he'll fight in Wales, I can see the Millenium stadium filling up already.

I'd prefer to see Pavlik fight him, but it WILL be Jones.

If Pavlik can indeed unify against Abraham by the end of 2008, a fight with Calzaghe is possible and would be absolutely huge. If Kelly holds up his end of the bargain, I wouldn't count out a Pavlik-Calzaghe fight. It has to happen soon though- anything past early 2009, and I see zero chance of Joe continuing to fight.
