    You’re confusing what “it” is.

“It” isn’t agreeing to a fight at a catchweight.

“It” is attempting to weight drain and weaken an opponent because they are too scared to fight a person straight up.

Canelo has not attempted to weight drain an opponent like Cotto, Floyd and Pac have done. Canelo vs Khan is at 155 because that’s what Khan needs, he would not fight Canelo at 160. (and understandably so, that would be 2 full weight divisions .. 155 is much fairer to Khan)

Canelo has never needed a catchweight to defend a title. Canelo was happily defending his 154-lb title at the full limit, until Floyd the CATCHweight King came along and tried to drain Canelo to 150. Floyd and Cotto needed catchweights vs Canelo because they were insecure about being able to beat Canelo without one.

The interpreter answered for him. " Antonio didnt have one he was a pro at 15 to earn money to live" That whole interview was published nationally in the Boxing Times no one has ever queried it. I spoke to him again when he returned to fight Buck Smith he remembered me and thanked me for my write up on him. Never said anything about it I have no reason to lie or tell exaggerated stories like someone did about Oscars sister & Pamela Anderson ROFL

I don't HATE Canelo at all actually He's ruining his own career & legacy just like Mayweather did. I'm like the Mexican fans I support FIGHTERS!!! not prima donnas
Canelo lost to Lara & Trout just like Mayweather lost to Castillo & Maidana but biased judges gave him decisions same way

He's working in a gray area. If the powers that be allow him to do it, then it must be ok! I don't like it, I think it causes a lot of fights to never get made or take a very long time to get made. He and his team are trying to get as much money as possible before they go for broke and fight a monster like 3G. The sanctioning bodies play a big role in this as well. If they were to step in and tell Canelo that he must fight 3G and the weight is no less than 160, he would be forced to fight or flee. I don't think he's a disgrace, just lost some respect for him. It would have been a breath of fresh air if he would have taken the G fight right after he beat Cotto, with no strings attatched! But money talks and he's answering the call!
