Is Canelo a slick boxer?

That's not saying much, everyone's foot work hurt them against Jones, he was a freak.

 

Yeah Canelo is very slick at times.

 

Eddie Hearn is his promoter afterall and he has to do what's best for Canelo and make him as much money as possible. If Beterbiev clocked Canelo, all of a sudden his star power severely diminishes and his aura disappears. He won't be able to monetise Canelo in the same way as before. That's why I think Eddie Hearn didn't even entertain the Beterbiev fight - too high risk and very low reward.

That said, anyhing could change after September. They could do the Plant fight and quickly go again in December and fight Beterbiev.

 

Just look at Canelo´s track record. Oscar was adamantly opposed to Canelo fighting Trout and Lara. And those fights happened.
BJS was a high risk fight and Canelo took it.

 

Kudos to Canelo. I never questioned his heart.

I just think Beterbiev is a big step up and Canelo won't be able to overcome it.

I just don´t see Hearn of all people getting in Canelo´s way if he actually wants to step up against Beterbiev. The dude has fought em all.
Hell, many were vocal about how Canelo would duck even Jacobs.

I wouldn't say Canelo has poor footwork. It's economical. Canelo can slip and block most punches with his upper body movement while keeping his feet in position to counter with big shots. Why would a fighter be lighter than they need to be on their feet and miss out on opportunities to land big shots when they are already dodging most punches as it is? Canelo has been light on his feet before too. It's not like it's something he can't do.
