His o game is on point, either kds or kos, even the greater bivol was complaining that his arms were sore after their bout.

Serious question. The great champ (rip) Johnny Tapia was known as a offensive wizard. The only difference was that he peppered with about 12 to 15 shots in a row consecutively. While Canelo is more of a pot shotting brute who throws hybrids if punches you don't even know where they are going or coming from. Great divvy up on his volleys. Go lo lo lo then all of a sudden HI, that's how he scored the KD in the 7th.

Btw I predicted a ko for Canelo in 7-9 rounds. Charlo was game but imo el Canelo is an offensive genius (with a granite chin). Props to his legwork too, cutting off that ring like a sniper

Lol no. One punch at a time, low volume.

For some reason he loves to spam that 1-1-2 to the shoulder. Initially I thought it was just to set up some bigger punches but he was still doing it in the 12th and it was getting blocked every time. He tried against bivol and it did nothing

Fk no. Barrera or any other Mexican great would have turned up the heat and finished him.

No, he declined. No feints like in first and second GGG fights. He is just marching forward with earmuffs defense trying to force his opponent to lay on the ropes. Charlo was perfect prey for him. Canelo landed a lot of clean body shots, but you could count his clean head shots on one hand...

I've never seen a fighter more successful than Canelo in landing clean on the left shoulder.

It does seem like a waste of energy. Instead of trying to break people’s arms. He possibly could’ve stopped Charlo if he focused right hands more down the middle or around the guard.

It’s weird, it worked against smith ages ago but he seems to be doing it all the time now.

maybe it’s an easy target that he can unload on to show his opponent his power

It's actually an old school tactic of hitting whats available to hit. Hes putting force on the arm to slow it down and take the pop out of it.
Problem is that he's over committed to it. So if he doesn't see an immediate hole to exploit, he'll just slug your arm to death.
He'll beat anyone from PBC at 168 tho.
He knows that and Al knows that.

Well Charlo was covering up, Charlo has big long arms, so it's not easy to land clean head shots on this dude. Canelo did land a lot of scoring upper arm shots though, as usual. You're right that he didn't feint Charlo, but he did give him a lot of head movement, and did a great job of cutting off the ring, and trapping Mell on the ropes. It was a great performance by Canelo, amazingly he stood between rounds throughout the entire fight, and still looked fresh as a cucumber after the 12 rounds. This was the kind of performance Canelo needed, to remind everyone that he's the best.

Those are scoring shots, it's a way to win close rounds, he blocks pretty much everything you throw at him, so those couple hard bicep bombs per rounds can be the difference in a close round when neither guy is landing clean.

Yeah he has slowed down plenty from his GGG 1/2 fights, he was so sharp then but even this version is pretty damn good.
