Rules are rules, rules are you have to weigh 154 at weigh in. Canelo manages to do that and weigh a good 20 extra pounds on fight night. What ever we may think about that its within the rules and if everybody could do it alot of them would. Last night it looked like Liam Smith was punching a briick wall while the Mexicans punches were staggering Smith back a step or 2 every time. The difference between the 2 was a mile apart, the only time Smiths punches had any input at all was when he caught Alverez as he was coming forward. I know Smith isnt known as a power puncher and im not saying Smtih was the number 1 guy at 154 but the difference between the 2 was scary it was like the Englishman was in with a Light heavyweight. If he chooses to stick around at 154 can any of the other top figthers in that division live with him? I know they will bring their own things to the table but would it be enough?
I don't think so... he established himself as the lone wolf of the division. Lara is number two but everybody else is battling for a shot at the brass ring...
I thought Roy Jones said it best when he described Canelo as a 154-lb TANK ! The dude is THICK man especially compared to Beefy. Not only that, but Canelo has a very relaxed counter-punching style that is truly a puzzle for anyone in the division to solve. I don't think anyone is invincible but Canelo at 154 is a real force, I mean it will take a herculean effect to beat Canelo, in general, especially at 154. He is so strong and fluid in there, I mean look how many big punches he took from Smith on the ropes and he was just eating some of those punches like they were nothing. He has such good balance that I just don't see how anyone at 154 could drop Canelo. Some fighters like Lara may be able to outbox him, but I can't see anyone truly dropping or hurting Canelo. He's an amazing fighter, and his performance vs Smith was truly impressive. With an injured hand he made it look so easy. He has successfully re-established himself as the Man at Light Middleweight with that performance, which was something very important to him. He stated in the press conference that he always told his team if he leaves the 154 lb division, he's goin to leave as champion. The scary part is if he moves up to 160, it's probably going to make him even stronger. But at 154 with his ability to still to make the weight, physically he makes his opponents look like they are fighting Mike Tyson in their prime but with a relaxed demeanor with a style that can adapt to any style or situation! How do you beat that !?
No one at 54 touches canelo, like i been saying for 7 years cane l o isva GREAT fighter. Him and the great ggg will hurt each others careers. I dont truly know who wins in 2017 once canelo builds uo even more fightable aize. Just even STFU snd enjoy 2 once in lifetjme true greats.
He beat up a terminally ill looking progeria sufferer who literally still lives with his mum. Canelo is a good ofc but Lara already arguably beat him, albeit it wasn't pretty. Jermall, Andrade and Williams are all big at the weight too, and would have a good shot at Caneltoe.
Lara beat Canelo, but was robbed (this is coming from a person who HATES Lara). Trout fight was a draw.
If Lara was ever given a rematch and he actually does more than run for 12 rounds then maybe he could beat Canelo. Maybe Brook has an outside chance, he looked good vs Golovkin and 154lbs will probably be his best weight. But other than that I can't see anyone beating Canelo at 154lbs, he's far too big and strong at the weight and has good skills to go with it.
Lara already beat him, Golovkin would probaly beat him @ 154 too some other fighter like the Charlo' might give him some problems but the big fights are @160 Golovkin, Jacobs, Eubank Jr, Lemieux, Saunders,
Lara vs Canelo is a fight that could have went either way. Seem to remember out of the media scorers 30 scored it for Lara and 32 for Canelo and many a draw.
Nah! not when they had levi martinez to fix the fight, lara barely got hit all night, if that was floyd they would have said it was a masterclass
