He went up to fight Bivol in an attempt to cherrypick a title at 175. Bivol was the lesser of two evils (Beterbiev being the other). It was a calculated risk and Canelo miscalculated. No one was asking for a Bivol fight in the first place; no one cares about the rematch. Give the fans what they want or retire.

I always predicted Benavidez smashes him so no surprise. They can see its a terrible match up. Once Canelos gas tank goes, Benavidez wouldn't be as merciful as Bivol.
Maybe before seeing Benavidez against Plant, Canelo would have had some reason to avoid him. But after seeing that performance, be serious. Benevidez got exposed enough to take the edge off his reputation. If Benevidez gets in with Morrell, it'll be ugly the other way.

Benavidez divulges he ate a slice of poisoned pizza the night before the Plant fight. A pizza mysteriously appeared in his hotel room which he thought his wife must've ordered. He started to feel ill after eating a slice and he had to make himself throw up some sick after his wife informed him that she never ordered pizza. He said he was in and out of the toilet the day of the fight and only weighed like 175 in the ring which is much lighter than he usually is. I suspect the guilty culprit was put up to it by either Big Al, Maurico, or a Clenelo operative.
