Reasons why the kovalev fight was suspect to me

    -buddy mcgirt as trainer
-kov was smiling and acting too friendly to canelo (he never does this)
-looked like he was pulling his straight punches (kovs jab and straight right usually is thrown like a javalin)
-the over dramatic way he went down

maybe it wasn't an out right fix, but something just doesn't smell right. I am willing to admit kov was not even close to 100% after the war he was coming off of with yarde where he was badly hurt and almost finished.

Around Round 9, after no serious or hurtful punches through 8 rounds were thrown, Bivol will be heard to say " I respect you. You are a great fighter" to which Canelo answers "you are a horrrrrrible fighter, horrrrrible" which is the signal for Bivol to throw himself on the canvas after what looks like a punch that missed his head. KO9 for Canelo.

To Canelos detractors its a sparring session, to everybody else its a real challenge against a very formidable opponent who has a real chance to win.

Did you watch the fight just before Canelo? People were complaining that Kovalev was throwing pitter patter punches in the RBR there too. To inflate his output, it was an obvious tactic under his new trainer.

Really, being the puncher that Kovalev has been he should’ve gotten Yarde out of there much sooner, but instead Yarde seemed to have gassed out more than anything.

Im not sure Yildrim was fixed - the only fix is that someone that poor got a title shot

I too was upset about what I saw of Kovalev against Canelo. But the KO was legit of course. It's impossible Kovalev took a dive there it was a brutal knock out. The thing that bothers is the sparring style Kovalev had during that fight and how in the 11th round he suddenly lost all of his commitment almost asking Canelo to finish him as if he was ready to accept being KOed. Really a strange thing to watch.

Maybe he was shot. The psychology was broken inside his head. But if that same thing happen to Bivol, in the championship rounds if he suddenly acts like a guy who just wants to get KOed for a huge paycheck I will never watch boxing again until a new generation of exciting fighters replace the current corrupted ones.

I thought ggg was pulling his punches in the first Canelo fight to be honest. The second was a more real fight where I think Canelo proved how tough he is but got outboxed.

The look of pulled punches had to do with Canelo's footwork and movement. GGG didn't load up on his punches like he normally does because Canelo was far more difficult to hit than GGG was used to. We also saw the same kind of thing from GGG against Jacobs, who is also a mover and skilled boxer. GGG couldn't sit down on his punches like his fans are used to because he didn't have a stationary target with Jacobs or in Canelo 1.
Canelo stood right in front of him the second time and kept coming forward, Canelo allowed himself to be outboxed as a means to stay in the pocket so he could outslug GGG. GGG lost because he couldn't match Canelo's power punching. And GGG's jab while active didn't deter Canelo from landing the harder shots on GGG. Canelo proved how tough he was that night, he was willing to duke it out with GGG, which was what GGG asked for, and GGG for the most part did not oblige. GGG backed away from a toe to toe war with Canelo.

Canelo makes everybody reluctant to throw for fear of his counters. Besides GGG of course. That’s all that happened with Kovalev and Smith.

Kov is pretty much an alcoholic boxer who is way past his best coming into the KOV fight off of a fight that was rougher then expected in less then what a month or so?
So I think Kov was just trying to get through it and see the final bell. You don't hurt me I won't try and hurt you kinda of thing.
Canelo all the sudden a power puncher? Never dropped a shot Mosley. Not Cotto. Didn't finish Trout.
    Didn't hurt Lara. Or Ndou.
Exactly who did he ko that surprised you?
