Its probably not the fight fans want to see but I still think it's a decent fight. What do you guys think?

If it was free on HBO or Showtime back in the day, it would be decent. As a pay-per-view mega event, it is pretty underwhelming. I certainly won't be buying it.

    Yes.
It´s the next best thing after Benavidez, Morrell and maybe even Mbilli.

It’s a decent fight and it’s 100x better than Charlo or anyone else post Bivol.

Don't know good or not but one million per cent better than Canelo vs Bumlanga which was considered another possible option. Bumlanga is utterly awful while Mungia is decent at least

It was seen as the decent alternative when everyone thought he was fighting Charlo or Berlanga, but it's Canelo so no.

It's not the fight we want, but it's decent. I think that Munguia is a live dog here if his chin proves to be sturdy. I can definitely see him piling up points and stealing rounds.

I can't agree it's decent as it's another fight Canelo shouldn't be having.

I think its a good fight, likely the best one he can make at 168 today. Who else would Canelo fight?

    Benavidez.

Canelo is in a glorious position where his mandatory fights are the actual best fights to be made in the division: Benavidez, Morrell, Mbilli.

There's not an excuse for him facing anyone other than Benavidez tbh.

Benavidez already has a fight lined up at 175. Who the **** else is Canelo supposed to fight, Joe Calzaghe?

Well, thats where the big split is. The fans want him to fight the most entertaining matches they think he should be in, but Canelo is looking at it from a money making/risk standpoint where it makes no sense to take on the most dangerous guys if he's getting paid more or not much less to fight the easier guys. He's basically pulling the Floyd maneuver where he carefully weighs out each opponents reward vs value along with how can he market it to the fans. At this point in his career its a smart thing to do as he's on the decline and probably has just a few years left in the sport.

Thats why I think Munguia is the best option. He doesn't tick off every checkbox, but he ticks off most of them, is more dangerous than all of Canelo's previous opponents after Bivol and we know he atleast wont let himself get walked all over like Charlo did.

The fans have to consider things from the fighters perspective too. Too many times a lot of guys leave the sport broke (i.e. why the old timers kept coming back to the ring after they retired) because they gave into what the fans wanted rather than what was best from a business perspective. Its a delicate issue, but at the end of the day it is the fighter who's putting his own health on the line here rather than us fans.

    Joe Calzaghe is retired.

Benavidez made it clear he wants Canelo but will fight Gvozdyk if Canelo doesn't want it. Canelo didn't want it and went for Munguia instead. It's all well documented.

No I don't have to consider anything from his point of view. he has managers to do that for him.

I want one thing only, the best to fight the best. It just happens that his best 3 opponents are all mandatories so he could please everyone very easily by fighting them one after the other
