At the age of 24 he already has a way better resume than GGG, his opposition is miles ahead of anything GGG has ever faced.

Canelo improves w every fight he is a solid fighter who is unfortunately stuck in a weight class limbo. He would be a beast at 152 if he could control his weight. At 5ft 8in he is too small for 160. He will have no power at 160 and his punch resistance will suck.

He could have success if he pulls a Floyd and makes demands out of all his future opponents guarunteeing himself the upper hand but he will lose a lot of respect if he goes that route.

Pac put Cotto on the deck twice and then KOd him late. Canelo is much bigger than Pac and never came close to putting Cotto down. And this was a late in his career cotto vs a prime cotto when he fought pac.

I don't care if pac got hit. Thats his MO. he goes in and takes some damage but that fight wasn't even close.

Cotto canelo was closer than the scorecard said.

Not to take anything away from Manny but Pacman fought Cotto at the worst point in his career. Coming off the brick fight, dealing with his father/uncle passing, no trainer, with a catchweights on top off it. Canelo fought Cotto at a better point with a top notch trainer and looking better than ever after 3 stoppage wins.

Just 2 years later Manny ducked out of a fight with Cotto at 154 also with Yuri Forman who Cotto beat for his JMW Title, also looking at the result Cotto really should of been allowed to continue and could have easily finished the fight with Manny.

Manny left with a broken eardrum and his entire head bandaged up, Canelo left with a few scratches.

Yes, I also thought of Provodnikov vs Algieri during the fight. Canelo is a slow plodder who can't cut off a ring. Guys like Bradley and Algieri boxed all around him, but they didn't have the power to really hurt him, just like Cotto outboxed Canelo but never hurt him. Canelo looks great against guys who come right at him like Kirkland, but he's going to be unlucky with a mover one of these days and not get any gifts from the judges.

    This.

Based on what I read and hear, I would say that he is generally underrated, actually, and always has been.

Don't use the Margarito excuse. Cotto won 2 fights after that fight.

Cotto was going to get stopped and the ref saved him.

As far as cotto being at a better point now. Geale wasn't a big win. Martinez was 39 years old. And his other win the guy has 29 wins and 8 losses. So his previous 3 fights weren't ****.

Cotto was not in a better point in his career last night than he was during the pac fight.

Canelo is over rated. He got gift decisions over Trout and Lara. He will be kept far away from other young fighters like Williams, or the Charlo Brothers.

There's been plenty of 25 year olds that have achieved more than Canelo.

That's less a knock on Canelo than it is just a reflection of boxing's history.

Canelo is a good fighter who's done well for himself, but boxing has had lots of good to great fighters.

C'mon according to you Canelo is a turtle far from true to me Canelo has improved a lot much better defense, more relax, picking his spots with a good array of punches total command a solid fighter.

You're comparing 145 drained Cotto to 153.5 Cotto nice and hydrated. GTFOH

So what? Canelo was drained and put on 17 lbs after weigh in. Cotto had no trouble making 145.
