He's definitely very good and has the potential to be great. You have to give him credit for taking on Floyd and taking his schooling, I think Canelo improved greatly from that experience. He gained even more respect for taking on his nemesis in Lara and it almost turned into another schooling, but Canelo showed he can adapt and was able to pull through, but barely. Has explosive speed and has more of an American style than Mexican, but his boxing brain and finding ways to win is what has impressed me the most. He's definitely not a prodigy, but he's pretty damn good. He's already fought with the best and could hold his own. Only Ggg beats him at this point. Canelo also only fights in spurts, if he was more consistent he'd dominate more.
I liked him and rooted for him against Mayweather. He just seems very protected since Cotto. 3 easy touches in a row when there are alot of big fights for him.
Big time hes an ovwr protetcted fraud whos never looked good against quality oposition. His claim to fame was losing to Floyd
Clenelo Pedvarez is a good fighter and prob underrated. But still he is a cheating piece of **** who deserves to receive a lifetime ban.
he whad a strong case for elite and a case for being number 1/joint number 1 in 2 divisions. However, the drug issue has put his elitedom into question.
Canelo has definitely got some beautiful and sharp combinations, his defence is top shelf, he's got a chin and good handspeed. His stamina issues (and thus mobility issues) were solved well through addition of peds. On the juice, I'd say he's potentially elite level. Off the juice he's still a top shelf, excellent boxer.
Where none of them go within ten feet of any scales especially on the day of the fight or after the fight
Canelo is misrated. He's marketed as a KO artist but in reality he's a back foot counter fighter. He stood in the middle of the ring while Cotto came to him all night. He outboxed Cotto but a KO artist would have walked down the smaller Cotto who couldn't hurt Canelo. Same with Chavez jr. Maybe knocking out JCC jr was a tall order but a knockout artist doesn't let the punching bag come to him. His highlight reel knockouts of Khan, Smith, and Kirkland are exactly what his fan base accuse Golovkins career of being. Carefully promoted hype. Regardless, I do rate him as a top 10 p4p fighter and despite however hard his fan base tries to sway me away I do enjoy watching him fight.
When you bring in the money, of course you will have a great resume. He is high reward. When have you heard one boxer make an excuse as to why they don't want to fight Canelo? Now how many excuses have we heard when it came time for boxers like GGG, Rigondeaux, Loma? Bringing in a big following and big purses will get you all the fights you want.
