Chavez is the original weight cutter and needed the mental edge of being bigger, seems to backfire when they can't cut the weight anymore almost as if they another ready to fight in what should be their natural division.
Thought it would be May of 2018. Maybe they didn't want GGG to lose so they wouldn't miss a huge pay day.
No his reputation would have taken a hit,if that Chavez fight had been a close fought war then maybe they wouldn't have announced it but I suspect not as the deal was done apparently. I'd of been ok with him having a few tune ups against lesser middleweights but I don't think Oscar wanted to risk him or not have his PPV
Canelo is ready GGG is ready The fans are ready I can't wait to see the drama and uppercuts fly in September
Yeah, no one wants to see some KO6 moment where Lemieux faceplant KTFOs Canelo and the biggest money fight in boxing would get derailed and postponed for years. Let's face it Lemieux is more than capable of doing that and would be a live dog against Canelo who matches up well for him stylistically. Canelo would stand in front of him and counter and there's always a chance Lemieux lands some brutal right hand eventually.
He's 27, with fifty odd pro bouts and multiple world titles. He's even sparred with GGG previously. If he's not ready now then he never will be.
you and dren rate Canelo over Brook and Jacobs total skills-wise? if you do, do you think Canelo is a whole level above either of them or just some margin above both? (i have only seen one Canelo fight, and based on that plus what i've read isn't nearly enough for me to form a defensible opinion, hence my questions above)
Canelo is more proven against Elite fighters. Canelo also looks a lot more dominant than either fighter when facing subpar competition. Canelo has fought and beat more world champions than either. Canelo is more consistent fighting top level opposition. Canelo has more world level experience. Canelo has better defense than both fighters.
my question was about comparing/ramking the skills of three fighters--not their resumes but their skills even if i didn't already know it, it would take me or anyone else about 90 seconds to go to boxrec.com and see that Canelo has 15 more fights than Brook and about 18 more than Jacobs--so clearly Canelo's the more experienced. that aside, your post suggests to me a guy whose knowledge of boxing consists almost entirely of what he reads on a boxing forum, with no ability to distinguish authority from pure nonsense let's parse it: four of the six comments which comprise your post pretty much say the same thing (and which again, don't engage my question, which was about skills not resume) which again, hardly needs to be repeated three times because a few minutes on boxrec.com is all that's needed to gather this sort or information Canelo is more consistent fighting top level opposition. Canelo is more proven against Elite fighters. Canelo has more world level experience. Canelo has fought and beat more world champions than either. your fifth remark: Canelo also looks a lot more dominant than either fighter when facing subpar competition. is almost completely irrelevant to answering a question about comparing three elite-level fighters against each other and finally, your last: Canelo has better defense than both fighters. your opinion is based on what exactly? Canelo's two best opponents (at the time he fought them) were Mayweather and Lara, both defensive specialists, so we certainly didn't get to see Canelo showcase his defensive skils in either of those fights. what's more, Canelo is a flat-footed, straight ahead fighter whose preferred range is medium-outside (ie, he throws a lot of hooks) which is a range that forces obvious compromise in defense Freddie Roach (whose fighter, Miguel Cotto lost to Canelo) says Canelo's defense is "terrible"--not "below average" but terrible in any event, maybe Canelo does have better defense than either Brook or Jacobs, but unless you know why and are willing to summarise your reasoning for us, just spewing out "Canelo has better defense" is pretty much pure noise.
His lack of Middleweight fights and more pressure guys isn't ideal, but at the same time Canelo is pretty fixed in his style so he's as ready as he's likely to be.
