I can't see Kirkland doing well at all with the countering ability Alvarez brings to the table. It'd be more lopsided in reality than on paper because of it. Still a fight I'd like to see, though.
It's one of those fights that takes on the feel of "anything can really happen." Anything except Kirkland outboxing Alvarez, but aside from that, an early stoppage, a mid/late stoppage, or a decision wouldn't surprise me from either side. It'd be action packed from start to finish.
:yep :thumbsup Even if he does lose, Canelo could certainly rebound & rebuild from a loss at the age of freaking 21. It isn't like that would be Game Over, go home. I don't think Canelo should try and market himself based on the "zero" like Mayweather and to an extent Chavez Jr. (although the latter has daddy's name to market himself on even if he weren't unbeaten...although I suppose so does the former ) - plus, I don't think his style allows for it. If you asked me to make a long-term projection on his career right now...I think he'll lose a few times along the way, and then become great.
Canelo is a champ. of course he's ready for kirkland and chavez jr. Canelo would kick both of thier asses.
Angulo did not train, he ran out of gas or Kirkland would have been knocked out! Alvarez will not punch himself out, he is a much better boxer, shorter punches, punches even harder and much better defense period!!!
Not saying Kirkland would win, but it would be interesting to see Alvarez in their with someone who's going to dictate the tempo to him, cause he looks to me like a guy who wants to fight at his own pace, someone who whilst he can counter punch, might not be a REACTIVE counter puncher. He might be one of those counter punches who needs time to think about what he's going to throw, and so takes longer, or too long to get his punches off.
I love Kirkland for his warrior mentality, but let's be real, apart from his aggression and power, what the **** has he got? Canelo would take him. Far more talented and skilled.
